McQuarrie concepts

By BEAULONEA, in X-Wing

Hey there fellow pilots,

I finally had a chance to watch JJ Abrams new Force for Change video, and although I can't really recall exactly what Mr. Abrams was saying due to the impressive piece of machinery he stood next to, the McQuarrie inspired X-Wing got me thinking. With the new chapter for Star Wars pulling much of its look from McQuarrie's original concepts of the galaxy far far away, What do you guys think the chances are of FFG producing some of McQuarrie's concepts or even ships from the new trilogy for the table top?

-BEAULONEA-

Next to none for the McQuarrie designs, but a fair chance for the Episode 7 designs.

Between Episode VII and Rebels, it appears we will see plenty of McQuarrie's designs.

It would certainly be cool to have Ghost from Rebels flying around the table pickin' off Ties.

Wasn't the Prototype pilot A-wing card art based on his original art that now has a dedicated paint scheme in the Rebel Aces box?

The paint scheme is McQuarrie's but the ship itself, while very similar, is not. The A-wing is pretty streamlined as it is so the changes they made aren't very noticeable to begin with but they are there. Likely not enough to do a new miniature of since at that scale they'd look basically identical. But the X-wing and Y-wing would be worthwhile.

I believe you are correct sir!

I think the chances of seeing the new ships from Rebels and Ep VII in X-wing at about 100% :D

kinda doubt they'll give us the stubbier TIE fighters though

I really, really hope that we DON'T see any ships from Rebels. Ep VII is only 18 months away and we will surely see FFG with an Ep VII license.

I would prefer FFG tightens up the current game instead of throwing more ships on the table in the interim.

As for McQuarrie models. It'd be cool to see them as prizes.

What about the image on the Omicron Group Pilot? Isn't that a McQuarrie?

I like the prize aspect. As a collector junkie I'm always interested in any sort of limited production. Then I'd have to break away from my fluff lists and actually attempt to be competitive. Blast you imaginary McQuarrie prize ship!!!

Just a reminder, that it might not be up to FFG alone whether or not certain ships pop up or not. LFL has a history of forcing games to incorporate whatever is in the interest of the company.

I don't want stubby ties I think they look too comical.
