Just for funzies. Jake flanks and knife fights, using both OM & P to ask tough questions of his targets. Wes strips tokens and softens up targets for the others. Etahn buffs other attacks while contributing himself. All 3 pilots have at least one double action dynamic: Jake gets focus+boost/barrel roll, Wes has PTL with an R2 to ease the stress, and Etahn has R7-T1 to either attack or redirect his ability's LOS. The efficiency, plus their cooperative buffs, makes them a cohesive team but each is individually a tough nut to crack. Seems like a fun group to run, even as 3 separate flankers.

Do wedge instead of wes. Without opporuntist in the build, wedge still does more for you. Unless wedge is lucky enough to get to go against targets with multiple tokens like bounty hunter recon specialists/interceptors or something. If you expect to play against almost exclusively those, then wes is fine i guess. Besides wedge with EU would actually be ok against whisper and han.

Wouldn't Wes strip said tokens while Wedge has to go not only go through them but also doesn't save teammates from them?

Tycho Celchu, Push The Limit

Luke Skywalker, Predator

Corran Horn, Marksmanship, FCS

Wes still has to go through tokens the same as Wedge; his ability doesn't trigger until after the attack he's making is complete(meaning after defense dice have been rolled and modified, and damage has been dealt), so your opponent has already had the opportunity to spend a focus or evade token they may have had. Wes's ability sets up following pilots to have fewer tokens left on his target, which is why he pairs well with a different pilot(with lower skill) who has Opportunist.

I feel like Wedge makes the choice of who to focus-kill first all the easier for an opponent. Likewise, Wes at least sets up the others who are still of a lower PS, so is Wedge any better beyond his own attack being more likely to hit than Wes'?

I posted this list in another thread:

Gemmer Sojan - Chardaan, Stealth, EH, Test Pilot

Luke Skywalker - R5-P9

Corran Horn - FCS, R2-D2, Marksmanship.

Good synergy here.

I've been calling it the AXE Effect.

I never understand why people put R2 on anyone but Luke.. he's not likely gonna lend his little buddy out...

rogue squadron

Tycho

-chardaan refit

-Awing test pilot

-push the limit

-expert handling

wedge

-predator

Corran

-Fire Control system

-R7 astromech

maybe not a lot of synergy but every ship is a threat.

I put R2 on Luke except when I need 2 of him. Then I put R5 on Luke and R2 on the other. Luke is more likely not to need a focus (due to built in focus effect). And Corran is more easily able to use R2 (due to better dial).

As for the fluff perspective: meh.

I played with this line up last night.

Used:

Tycho with PTL and an extra shield

Corran Horn with PTL and Advanced Sensors

Rookie Pilot with R2-D2

It was against a weird line-up of a shuttle, interceptor Ace and 2 ties. Horn went down the flank and made short work of the interceptor with his 2 attacks in 1 round then spent the next move positioning and clearing stress before approaching the shuttle which Tycho had already weakened down to Hull damage.

Nearly lost the rookie but R2 managed to hold him in there and he cleared up the last two ties.

Really liked the balance of this squad but would be interested to see how it goes against a tie swarm.
