Help for someone just starting out

By DarthSpiderX, in X-Wing

I picked up the core set on clearance for $18 awhile back and finally got around to playing it. I don't have a nearby gaming shop so I won't be doing any tournament play, but had a blast playing it casually with my brother-in-law. I'm looking to get a few ships to have some more options and think I've settled on the Millennium Falcon and another X-Wing for the rebel side. My question is, what imperial ships should I get to counter that so it is a fair/balanced fight in casual play? The tie interceptor with Vader looked good, but I have no clue really. I'm not too worried about point builds or anything, but I don't have the money to go crazy and get a lot of big ships either. Any thoughts or ideas would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Firespray and Tie Defender?

Phantom is good, but hard to fly vs the falcon.

Dont get the tie advanced, or the bomber if youre only getting two ships.

I suggest for fun that you stay away from trying to min-max build to win. Since you have the Falcon you will enjoy the Slave 1. You should also get a TIE Fighter expansion for the new pilots and cards.

You can save $$$ here.

Welcome to the Parlor.

:)

2x more TIE Fighters and 1x TIE Interceptor. Then maybe 1x more ship, which could be another TIE, another Interceptor, or perhaps a Bomber.

If you're going to buy another X-Wing anyway just do what I did and buy another core set. Gives you 4 fighters. Buy the tie Fighter expansion and you have a mini-swarm. Pop a firespray or an interceptor in there and you have a nice 100 pt list.

Thanks everyone for the quick responses! This seems like a great community!
