FAQ Response

By Toomai, in Cosmic Encounter

Here we can discuss what we think of the FAQ. Here's some of my thoughts:

  • Looks good. Not printer-friendly.
  • You know how Macron got two buffs in this edition? Count one of them out; you can zap him in Reveal again.
  • Void beats Zombie. Just as I always said. :P
  • Weird change on Warrior, possibly the only case of information being carried "across" encounters.
  • Spiff got fixed. Why it was changed in the first place, I say!
  • Wild Reincarnator takes effect after absolutely everything else. Presumably Reincarnator itself is intended to act in the same way. The Timing Table will be updated.
  • Human (zapped) and Pacifist (playing N) - offense always wins. Don't like that one.
  • The wording of the Observer answer appears to contradict itself.
  • So Wild Amoeba users can get free home colonies, eh?
  • Sorcerer changes which card Clone/Flich gets. Doesn't match with the wording of his text (you reveal each other's cards, but they seemingly still "belong" to the other guy), but makes sense.

Vacuum
Q: Can Vacuum use its power on itself, and if so, can it cause an infinite loop?
A: No. Vacuum cannot use its power on itself. Just no.

Besides, if I could do that...I wouldn't leave the house...either out of ecstasy or I'd break my neck trying.

good job with the FAQ, it sure gave some clarification

now i only hope that FFG will include a new macron sheet and a reincarnator flare etc etc in the expansion

The FAQ looks beautiful, but please please please make a printer-friendly version. It's not useful like this. I can't exactly memorize nine pages of FAQs.

Just the Zombie ruling alone is worth it to me. FINALLY , an absolutely official clarification. No more undeserved compensation for you, Zombie.

For those who are interested, I've produced a printer-friendly version of the FAQ: www.savefile.com/files/2096699

It's a Word 97-2003 file (produced in Word 2007). Should be openable in OpenOffice if you don't have Word/hate Microsoft.

I've basically rewritten the Q/A format into a straight, just-the-facts format. I've also reduced redundancy and done a different organization structure, which has pared it down to four pages. The wording may be a bit advanced for the beginning player.

Good job with the FAQ, I’m satisfied with almost all answers, but there are two of them that don’t make much sense to me.

I don’t like the timing rule for the Human (zapped) – Pacifist (N) interaction. In my opinion Human should always have precedence.

I also don’t think that Warrior should collect experience points when zapped.

You're a madman ... you know that, right? But in a good way. gui%C3%B1o.gif

It printed just fine for me. And I think it's the nicest looking FAQ I've ever seen for a game! (I was a big fan of the marvel heroes FAQ that used to be available here too, but this is nicer still).

Are you printing it in colour or B&W? It's easy to read in colour. The ink costs a little more, but would you have bought a discount copy of the game if all the art work was B&W?

Keep up the beautiful FAQs, FFG!

You're the man, Toomai!

And Crimhead, as much as I'd love to print the FAQ like that (and I'm glad it's at least an option), I don't have the greatest printer, and I don't like to waste ink. I print in black and white, yes. A text-only version is just more efficient and would have been a nice option. Oh well, problem solved!
