New FFG Article

My guess is that the barrel roll for large ships will now use the 2 straight template instead of the 1 straight template, to better reflect the size of the ship doing the maneuver.

I don't agree, because it would take an already large forward/back movement and add a large lateral movement too. But I like the idea.

Honestly, I think if they reduce the slide for a large base on a Barrel Roll, it is to reflect the designers intended purpose for the Expert Handling card:

To allow you to spend an action to shed a target lock.

It will also reduce the effectiveness of the 2400, most definitely, but I'm betting they also don't like how players ended up using the EH card.

New FAQ is now up. Large Ship BR is now on the long side of the "1" template instead of the short.

new pdf is up...

Large Ship barrel role must place the long edge of the 1 straight template against the base instead of the short edge.

Good job Futant420, you guessed right.

Thanks FFG! :)

Hmmm.

Interesting.

Seems reasonable.

Nice buff to Huge ships. It also makes sense from a canon perspective. A capital ship wouldn't go into battle with all its systems not charged up, unless it was ambushed.

So how much does this limit large ships barrel rolling? Is it half a small base at the extremes or a full one?

FYI, the updated FAQ is uploaded. You just have to go through the Resources link instead of the link provided in the article.

:(

Something of note for the sexist bickering. The FaQ says she on echo. I don't give a rats either way but that is from FFG and is final.

FAQ is up and it's dated 7.16.14.

New Barrel Roll rules for Large Ships:
Barrel Roll
Large ships follow special rules when they perform the barrel roll action.
Instead of placing the short edge of the template against the ship’s base,
place the long edge of the template against the ship’s base. Otherwise,
barrel rolls are performed as described in the core rulebook.
Important note: This rule does not officially take effect for tournament
play until August 1st, 2014.
Phantom with Adv Sensors:
If a TIE Phantom uses Advanced Sensors to perform a
cloak action, it cannot immediately decloak.

They're also allowing Gunner and Luke to be equipped as crew to huge ships now. Navigators remain banned.

Fel's Wrath just got a bit more interesting too.

Sad that the Advanced Sensors + Cloak combo got nerfed.

Fel's Wrath only got interesting when facing Corran.

That's a nice boost to the corvette!

I wish I knew if the Adv Sensors/Cloak thing said anything about the actual details of timing or is just a Phantom nerf.

So glad they put in that clusters have to BOTH miss to trigger munitions fail safe. I was getting rather sick of that discussion.

Vessery got a buff too.

If a friendly ship has a target lock on an enemy ship and Colonel Vessery spends his own target lock to attack that ship (for example, he spends his target lock to fire a Concussion Missile), he may immediately acquire a new target lock on that ship and spend it to reroll his attack dice.

Well not a buff per say, but a clarification, as this was a discussion once.

I didn't know tat Failsafe still let the stress go through even if it didn't hit in the flechette torps. do you think the same is true for something like Assault Missiles?

Here's an interesting tidbit from the newest Standard Tournament rules:

"Note: Any new product released at Gen Con 2014 will not be legal for the
2014 North American Championship or Escalation tournament."
Would they have put that in there if there wasn't a new product being released at GenCon???

Fel's Wrath is confirmed that if, for example, FW is blown up but not removed, and then say two PS4 ships then both blow each other up in a simultaneous fire, leaving FW the only ship on the board the owning player would get a modified match win with 100-0 MoV (or whatever the squads are).

I wish I knew if the Adv Sensors/Cloak thing said anything about the actual details of timing or is just a Phantom nerf.

I would say yes, it's a result of timing details. You reveal your dial once, which triggers both Advanced Sensors and any cloak token a ship has. But if you use Advanced Sensors to cloak, the token doesn't travel back in time in order to be triggered--it has to wait until the next opportunity.

And Brath too

Rexler Brath must choose to use his pilot ability after resolving any faceup damage cards dealt by his attack.
Any faceup damage cards that have been resolved and flipped facedown and any additional Damage cards dealt by the Minor Explosion Damage cards are also flipped faceup when Rexler Brath uses his ability.
Rexler Brath may only use his pilot ability once per attack; see “Abilities Resolve Once per Opportunity” on page 8.

Flechettes deal stress when you attack with them, regardless of whether they hit. But you can't get the splash damage from Assault Missiles (which requires hitting) and also trigger Munitions Failsafe (which requires missing).
