star wars rebels

By ivar9898, in X-Wing

I was wondering if it could be possible that ffg could be designing, or will be, ships of the upcoming star wars rebels serie, like the Ghost. What do you guys think?

I kind of hope not.

Most of us are assuming they are or will be, given that the show takes place at the beginning of rebellion era so it fits the timeline better than clone wars era stuff would, and the inevitable marketing blitz.

I hope they are being given early access to designs and info so they can release, or at least announce, soon after the show debuts so we won't have to wait too long. Would suck if the first wave containing rebels ships doesn't get released until the show is in its second season.

I kind of hope not.

Are you responding to the OP or Ribann's statement about his ready body?

I'm of two minds on this one. the older, crustier part of the brain wants a Star Wars that fits the Star Wars of my conception and ... frankly, generation.

But maybe I'm just too long in the tooth, and FFG's policy will be 'No Star Wars for old men.'

Do you think star wars EP VII will fitt in your idea of star wars? But maybe rebels will have some surprises for us, just like the clonewars were especially for children, but in time many adults loved it to.

I watched a video of Kevin Smith talking about Ep VII and I am hopeful. It sounds like (at least to Kevin) that JJ is doing a great job with VII. so being an old guy . even older than Smith, I am going to remain hopeful that it is as awesome as Kevin seems to think it will be.

This new series.. I am also hopeful, but I feel it will be more a kids show. I could be wrong, but just how I see it so far.. I do like what I have seen though, it looks pretty good.

Lego already knows a lot about rebels, so why not ffg? They already designed a wookiegunship what will come out in January, so maybe ffg will surprise us. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVceFPOfASE

Many would argue that Star Wars has always been aimed at kids.

Yes it was.

I don't think this dispute is about age as much as it is about generational cohort.

I'm about half a generation younger than oneway. As such, he was the first generation of 'kids' to be right in the crosshairs of the Star Wars craze, and I came in there a few years later. As such, we probably feel like Star Wars is ours, and it shouldn't be buggered for later generations. Our nostalgia keeps what 'was' contemporary (and not child-like) with us, while the new-fangled stuff seems like it's trying to erode our Star Wars and give it away to someone else.

But this is just one of the many ways that we'll nerdrage about what 'is' Star Wars.

Agreed.. reluctantly.. lol

I really can't agree with you more on this.. lol... I have always felt it was"mine" and belonged to all of us kids at the time.. I was really disappointed at the rework that caused Han to be a little less a merc and more a nice guy (HAN SHOT FIRST!!!) lol

This sums it up I think

I'm from the older generation of fans (I saw ANH in the drive in at 3) but I'm all for the Rebels ships being added to X-wing. For me is more about the look and design, and most of what we've seen from Rebels looks much closer to the original trilogy's style than the EU ships FFG has used. There's no more ships to take from the original trilogy, and most of whats left in the EU for the rebels and empire looks terrible, especially the 90's video game ships, so I'd rather FFG goes with the newer designs for them.

I like the Gozanti... ::read: I LOOOOOOOVE the Gozanti:: lol, I can live with the Ghost.. the Inquisitors TIE is nifty, but it's a TIE.. it would have to be interesting to need adding in.. IMO

Rebels' character designs just don't work in the art style FFG has used so far, and the ship designs are low to middling at best, I'm not seeing it.

Honestly I'm not very fond of the Ghost's design. Just seems oddly proportioned and a bit too much like "we need a ship that is the falcon but doesn't look like the falcon."

Clone Wars threw in a lot of irritating kiddy "moral lessons" at the start (I gave up on it before the supposedly better later series). However, from what I've seen, Rebels has very good writing. The humour's kid friendly without being jarring. Obviously because of its main target audience it's going to leave out what you might call darker themes, but otherwise looks like it fits what a few forummers have described it, an old school Star Wars RPG brought to life.

The empire still used nimbus fighters, or v-wings, but i dont know for how long, so maybe we will see them in the upcoming seasons. But if ffg made them they would be very small.

Yeah, the Empire also used LAAT/i gunships early on too, so maybe we'll see those at some point.
