Paper and Pen

By skull lleader 86, in Star Wars: The Card Game - Rules Questions

So I haven't found anything specific on this but what is the rule with paper and pen.

I find myself constantly writing things down as the dark side now against Force lockdown.

They reveal the top card I write down its name and force icons and cross it off as the game continues and they pitch or play it.

Is this okay ?

In friendly games... sure, if your opponent is ok with it (there's no game rules about it because it's not about something happening in the game).

In tournaments though, this would not generally be accepted. It's not a game component so you can't use it during the game.

I was told otherwise. I was told so long as it didnt disrupt the flow of the game and delay the game considerably that it was allowable to write things down.

It helps me out a lot in play testing for Gen Con.

Yesterday for example they I was able to play accordingly knowing they still had one Seeds in their hand and had a trust your feelings available for themselves next turn.

Which told me don't commit anyone to the force as blockers and when to use all of Palpatines Tactics icons on chewbacca who was the only character on the field who would benefit from a trust.

I'm sure I read somewhere note taking was not allowed but cannot find it now.

Tournament Rules. (version 2.1)

Page 4, Chapter PHYSICAL MANIPULATION
"Physical manipulation refers to any attempt by the cheating party to manipulate his own or an opponent’s game components or the play environment, with the intent of gaining a competitive advantage. Some examples of physical manipulation include (but are not limited to): [...] tracking of the game state, or play decisions."

So ... I'd say use it during game testing and friendly matches, but learn to do without in sparring matches so you won't be accused of cheating when playing in tournaments.

Also remember that it is totally allowed for either player to look at either player's discard pile at any time.
