So I went to my first ever tournament yesterday, which was held in Salt Lake City. We had a total of nine players with a nice variety of lists: 8 Tie swarm, Whisper/5 Tie, Lamba/Kath/Soontir, even a two HWK list, to name a few. I flew a Chewie/Corran list and it was a lot of fun. As it was my first tournament and I am relatively new to X-wing, I just went for fun not expecting to place at all, but ended up taking first. The final game was against the Whisper list, and it really came down to the wire. Everyone was chasing the Falcon and Corran came right up behind in great position. Whisper did a k-turn and took out Corran in one attack. A handful of rounds later it was down to just Chewie and Whisper. Chewie was down to 1 hull left. But when Chewie attacked, Whisper rolled all blanks and was destroyed. It was a great game. The tournament prize was pretty amazing too:

K-Turning a Phantom... at least if it took out Corran it could have been worth it. I'd hate to try that and NOT destroy the E-Wing especially if it was in a position to counter attack.

I saw that shot, and it was awesome. Almost a game changer, and statistically should not have gotten a hit through, let alone one shot Corran. My only loss in the tourney came against ObiBen. My other wins weren't that impressive, one by 1 point the other by 5 points. It was a lot of fun.

So I believe I took my two shots that round. As a good note to remember, the second attack is at the beginning of the end phase, so it's better to save the attack and just attack the next round as normal. Particularly when the Phantom cloaks after its attack, and Corran has VI so he attacks first anyway. Just a thought. Either way, Corran's attacks were enough to take the Phantom's shields, but the next round looked like this:
