Can anyone ID the fighter chasing the HWK-290 in the new Far Horizons write up? To me, it almost looks like a pirate saw an E-Wing and decided to slap something similar together.
Whats that ship?
wings are a too high for an E-wing
Could be anything, could be something new
Ah, thank you TBS. Never played any of the MMO's, which explains why I didn't recognize it. Didn't Know that the Devestator appearing in the next X-Wing mini game was from SW: Galaxies either.
I hope the Kihraxz makes it into the book.
I also hope they didn't actually mean the only new spacecraft appearing in the book will be freighters. I would love to see more fighter, corvette, and frigate models especially those introduced in the gap between the last Sith War and the rise of the empire era. (I consider that 1000 BBY to 100 BBY)
So far the only capital warship models I can recall off the top of my head which we know for certain emerged in that period, and have full stats in any Star Wars Tabletop system are the Class 1000/Munifex class Light Cruisers, maybe the Dreadnaught (Its close whether its introduction was very late in the gap or very early in the Rise of the Empire era.), possibly the Lucrehulk on a technicality (The basic design was centuries old when the Empire rose but the battleship conversions were introduced in the Rise of the Empire era.), the Consulars (Though they only appeared before the Rise of the Empire era in one book. Apparently the author of the Darth Bane trilogy had an aversion to naming/creating new ship classes for the Republic and just gave them KOTOR and PT Era craft whenever he could) and the Xanter class Exploration Frigates.
There are a handful of named warship classes which emerged in that gap but haven't been stated for RPG use, and a couple of statted warships which might have but are not confirmed to be from that era. Still counting the statted ships, unstatted ships, and maybe from the gap ships, there are only around 10 capital ship models for a 900 year period, and half of those were models favored by the Trade Federation or its Defense Force with 4 of those being by one manufacturer, and all four being designed around the 270s and 260s BBY.
Fighters are much the same, I can think of 4 or 5 models known to be from the 900 year gap and a few more might be but I think only three of the confirmed ones have ever been statted for RPG use. (Z-95, Cloakshape,, and C-73)
FFG has shown it has no problems creating new ships first built during the gap in setting and I think Far Horizons would be a great book to introduce more in.
Edited by RogueCoronaOkay, this is like the second (maybe more?) time that FFG has teased us with a HWK-290 showing up in the RPG artwork. I can't imagine we will see stats for it in Far Horizons (unless they really do go with the courier designation, or link it to the Marshall), so what is the deal?

One factor is probably that because they manufactured an HWK-290 for the X-Wing Miniatures game, they commissioned artwork featuring that ship.
That's artwork they can re-use in the Star Wars Roleplaying line without having to pay for a new painting.
Seems like it'd make sense for the HWK-290 to show up in the SWRP line somewhere, but the simple fact is they already own the paintings so they might as well repurpose them.
