So I'm running House of Dust and Ash soon and I was curious how fellow GMs might have run the actual auction part of the adventure. What lower tier items did you put in the initial auction. I know the book suggests only from Disciples, Inquisitor's Handbook, and the Core, but that was before Radical's and am considering a few things from that as well.
I planned on having my list of low tier items, and if any NPCs woud bid on them with an associated maximum value they'd be willing to put in. Remembering that they will hold back for the higher tier auction.
As for running the auction there'd be an initial value (I was considering a base x2+ multiplier for any cost in the book) if an acolyte is interested they will raise a hand. Some simple hand signal (maybe a knowledge test or be misunterstood if I feel like being cruel). Perhaps each auctioneer is given a datapad to send in their personal bids (simulated by passing the GM notes) and quickly recieve answers if they've been outbid to maintain the anonymity of the bidders in such a powderkeg of an area that this valuable of an auction could be.
Maybe even let them try and influence the audience through intimidation or some such thing.
Anyone have any personal experience with this part of the adventure and is willing to share? Any thoughts on my opinions on the matter?
Edit: Managed to find this old thread: http://community.fantasyflightgames.com/index.php?/topic/17993-house-of-dust-and-ash-items-for-auction/ which had some great item suggestions.
