If No Imp Huge Ships at GenCon: How Upset Will You Be?

By R22, in X-Wing

Title says it all. People are pretty certain the Imperial's will get huge ships AND at GenCon. It has always been rationale, never any official statement. So I'm curious, if no Imperial huge ships are announced at GenCon, how upset would you be? I'm not asking about the timing, I mean what if FFG has no plans for Imperial huge ships? 1-10 with 10 being the most upset.

EDIT: I don't mean for sale, I just mean the product being announced or at the very least officially acknowledged as intended.

-1. I don't currently have any plans to start playing Epic, and haven't finished tracking down the cards that I need from the Tantive IV yet. Not to mention I still have more Wave 4 to get, and Wave 5 and Rebel Aces aren't even out yet. So I will be -1 upset if there are no Imperial huge ships at GenCon.

I won't be upset at all. I'd be surprised if FFG didn't say something about X-Wing at GenCon, but it might just be more Wave V spoilers or something else entirely.

3, because if something was released, people will stop speculating and complaining about Imperial huge ships :P . In all seriousness, though, it'll be cool to get some proper, Rebel vs. Imperial Epic play will be cool, even if I only really play Rebels.

Are you asking about a release or a sneak peak? I don't think anyone expects imperial huge ships to actually be for sale at GenCon. As for a sneak peak. I would be very surprised, maybe a rad disappointed, but not at all upset. These are just speculation, they don't even qualify as rumors. But they did have early sculpts of the corvette and transport at last years show, so if they don't have imperial equivalents to show this year they had best be prepared to field a lot of questions about it.

I won't care in the slightest. I have had both Rebel ships since release; haven't used them once.

2...if its not imperial huges it the long awaited Imperial War Machine box that fixes the advanced, has new pilots for many ships, and finally brings out the good bombs. AND a new bounty hunter ship...

If that happens I'd probably be happy instead of disappointed.

I'm certain there won't be Imperial Epic ships for sale: they've been very consistent about marketing ships via previews before their actual release. I would definitely like to see them at least tease something, though.

If they don't... Maybe 2/10? It's not as if we have a shortage of new toys at the moment.

Not at all because they will be there. Not for sale but on display.

I could care less if they do or not. I'm still trying to fully rationalize and figure out my squad builds up to and including Rebel Aces. It's not like 2014 had a shortage of X-Wing releases.

Not that much. I own both epic ships and I love the models. But I have yet to play any epic games.

I spent like $150 on them and I got some cool upgrades, Tarn, and Hobbie.

Don't get me wrong I would love to see more awesome stuff to spend my money on, and I am sure that whenever FFg gets around to giving the Empire some huge ships that they will be cool, but I don't really feel like they are a whole missing in the game.

In truth I think if I did play an epic game I probably still wouldn't take the huge ships, at least not the CR90, I just don't think it is worth its points. Even with very modest upgrades it costs as much as 10 academy pilots, it could easily cost as much as 10 alpha squadron pilots if your not careful with the upgrades.

No big deal. Now I will be upset if I don't start seeing some "Imperial Only" cards in the near future.

Only a couple reasons I can think of that would stop FFG from making a huge Imperial ship that's really centered around sales. Internal sales figures concerning how well the game in general is selling(B&N's 50% sale and just mentioning that as a point, as far as I can tell, the game sells well around me, just can't seem to get to a tourney at the same time) and how are orders/sales of the Transport and the Corvette doing(well enough to warrant production of an Imperial huge ship?).

If they don't put out a ship for whatever reason, they would most certainly FAQ Imperials being able to use the Transport and Corvette for epic play. Only a handful of cards that came with the Corvette actually say "Rebel a Only", not sure about the ones with the Transport since I don't have one of those. Throwing Mara Jade on a Corvette could be fun because of the sheer size of the ship, you'll probably will be in range 1 quickly, stressing them out then smashing into them. Or so many hull points and shields to feed Vader?

I won't care in the slightest. I have had both Rebel ships since release; haven't used them once.

Same here! We're hoping to get them on the table later next week or the week after as league wraps up on Tues! We are looking at several CR 90s and multiple transports potentially being on the table at one time!

I'm just excited about seeing the Decimator in two to three months!

Probably around a 3. I like the Epic ships for their display value, but I don't really have interest in Epic play. I'll be more disappointed if there is no news of stuff coming beyond wave 5.

No big deal. Now I will be upset if I don't start seeing some "Imperial Only" cards in the near future.

Like Mara Jade, and a few others coming in Wave 5? Or do you mean non-unique ones, because I'd rather they keep side specific upgrades to crew member characters. The only reason I can see that Rebels have so many more than imperials do currently is because of all the crew cards for the main characters.

FYI, the Transport and Corvette both are now getting a reprint, so I will say sales on huge ships have been good.

That said, it really doesn't matter. Whatever they reveal will be something I want.

I think I'd be quite disappointed, so I'll go in for a '5'. (I trust that by '10', you mean that I'm raging mad and starting to plot a terror campaign against FFG. No, I won't go that far. '7' would be a temper tantrum of some sort. Yeah, '5' sounds about right.)

I had an epic game a few weeks ago, and I've played a couple of solo games with the GR-75, which I quite like. Tomorrow, I've got a great epic game in the works, in which I'll be flying both my lovely Space Whale and a friend's CR-90! I'm totally psyched!

So, I'll be playing rebels in order to fly the huge ships. But, I prefer to play Imperial, and I see some pretty interesting options being discussed for an Imperial huge. So, I'm really curious what they'll come out with, and GenCon seems like the time & place to announce such a thing. Given what Sithborg said about the rebel huges in reprint, it seems like they sold well enough.

Then again, maybe the CR-90 and GR-75 are in reprint because people got very gung-ho, and now they're finding that epic really isn't a common playing style. counterargument: maybe it'll be a more popular style if there are Imperial huge ships to have broadside battles with.

So, anyway, a '5'.

Not bothered in the slightest, because A: my wallet is saved, and B: something'll be there FFG thinks is better than Imperial Huges.

Maybe a 3 slightly miffed but would not ruin my day, I do think the cr-90 was designed to attack other big ships rather than fighters so it needs a large imperial target.

If they announced the tie avenger and starwing gun boat I'd be very happy as well.

The Quad Lasers are antifighter. You need to outfit it for the role you need to to play.

I'm comfortable making the assumption there will be an announcement for huge ships. I am also however totally ok if they don't. Regardless, I think we're going to see something cool one way or the other.

I would be very disappointed if there wasn't a reveal of some sort.

Not at all because they will be there. Not for sale but on display.

I think FFG needs to get a little scrappy with their Forum Fans/Users and put a wrongly scaled Imperial Star Destroyer on display. Not for a preview. Not for sale. Just display one and F*****CK with all of the minds that participate on this forum.

That would be EPIC. :P
