Well, from a competitive play stand point, 3p0 was kinda a shameless money grab from a design standpoint.....

If you were in FFG's position, and you wanted to make sure the Tantive IV was going to have as much value as possible to the players who bought it--that is, picture yourself as having a customer-service, give-back-to-the-fans orientation--you would have done exactly what they did.

There are lots of competitive builds that don't include any ships with crew slots, as well as lots of competitive builds with Falcons that don't use C-3PO. Use one of those.

I will chime in with, I didn't wish and didn't buy a Tantive, but that is because I play mostly all empire. Now, when the empire huges come out, that is a story for another time.

Though really, this game is about the cheapest to keep up with of all I've played that follow this mode of operation. Like one decent buy with 40k costs about the upkeep of this game and attack wing for half a year if not the whole year. That to me, is a bargin, even including the huges.

The argument that 3po costs 90$ and offers an unfair advantage. Is like saying tie fighters cost 12 points each and I have to buy 7? At 14 a piece?

the argument is ridiculous if you really think about. You don't pay for the advantage, you pay because, hey I want to play that thing. Its a matter of supply and demand. You're demanding the upgrade or the ship, they are supplying it, as long as you want to supply the money.

And the thing I keep in mind with Threepio, is that Outmaneuver is a thing. A beautiful, beautiful thing.

Nobody talked about advantadges or unfairness.

In this thread, the only thing that was said is that the C3PO card placed into the Tantive expansion set (a ship not useful for competitive play) was a moneygrab move when it comes to competitive players, since there is no use of the tantive itself on standard play.

You can agree with FFG model, be fine with it, but you can criticize it. As vorpal points out, there are other builds to play with, but if you are a falcon lover (which i am not, so i couldn't care less) C3PO seems like one of the biggest staples alongside gunner and millenium falcon in falcon builds.
