Wave 6: Rebel Yell. (Speculation)

WAVE 6: STAR WARS: REBELS

Well come on guys, it's obvious! With SWR coming out in October this year, we're going to see these before anything else! And guess what- there's exactly four ships! though the catch is, there's one BIG one. One could say, "epic".

First and foremost is The Ghost .

A Corellian Engineering Corporation VCX-100 Light Freighter. Though there's not much light about it.

I can't say what stats it'll have. She's bigger than the falcon but she's got some surprises in her, I'm fully certain. Go ahead, speculate! I suspect one thing though. It'll be the E-Wing of large rebel ships.

Next up we've got The Phantom.

A ship that pops out of the back of The Ghost? How Toyetic! No seriously. That's toyetic as hell.

Expecting it to basically be a rebel TIE fighter, and having tons of synergy with The Ghost, if fielded with it, but being unlikely-to-field without The Ghost. Should be a fun little ship.

Next up, we've got what I only know as the, TIE Starfighter .

star-wars-rebels-a8817_inquisitortie2.jp

This is old TIE Fighter concept art from some point in time used for The Insuisitor's own personal ship. It's likely a predecessor to the TIE Advanced, so expect some interchangable cards between those two or some kind of cost reduction thing.

Finally, we have the I mperial Gozanti Cruiser.

GozantiCruiser.png

A clearly modified version of the Gozanti Cruiser we all know and few adore, it's a reasonably large ship and good unquestionably canon counterpart to The CR-90 Corvette. I suspect that it would be best fielded with a small wing of TIE Fighters, as unlike the CR-90, it would rely more on its escort and provide far more of a support role, than a big tanky one.

So, how likely is this, do you guys think? I think it's almost completely certain.

Well.. as much as I wouldn't mind the Ghost, or the Gozanti ships... they arent in the timeline for the game. This series is clone wars era... the game is rebellion era.. probably won't see them..

But as I said, the Gozanti and Ghost would be cool to have...

I really dig the ghost. Although, no turrets. It could have a lot of forward firepower, but it needs to stay forward firepower.

Maybe, maybe, an auxiliary firing arc

How is it Clone Wars era? the title indicates that it's Rebellion era, even if it is (I am guessing, or maybe I heard it somewhere) early on in the rebellion era.

Rebels is set 5 years before Episode IV. That's hardly Clone Wars era.

Rebels isn't Clone Wars era. It's between the two- and given its canon status and heavy marketing, it's **** near inevitable.

Problem is, it very clearly has a turret. Not having it would really confuse people.

Still not rebellion era...

My comment was more a.. "don't hold your breath" comment... as I said, I would like to see a couple of those, but it is before tye games timeline.. it would really depend on if they really wanna consider it rebellion era..

The Z-95 is older than the time period in which Star Wars: Rebels takes place. As is the Y-Wing.

And apparently the TIE fighter.

I am pretty sure this series will be considered the beginning of rebellion era

It sounds like you're trying to lawyer this one. If you want to be narrow about it, are you also going to say that they're not going to make the E-Wing, because that's also outside of the Rebellion Era?

I don't think that FFG is going to be all that precise. They're going to look at what they think will sell. Now, I'm not sure they think that SW: Rebels will appeal to their target audience, but I think it'll be fine if they do it tastefully.

Well, ask yourself this. It's OT era and are there any ships we haven't bought yet? Even the super obscure HWK sold fairly well.

After seeing the Gozanti in the Rebels trailer, I think it's just a foregone conclusion that it'll be one of the first Imperial Huge ships.

I do like the design of the Ghost (sans the dumb little ship that is inside it that was solely created to sell toys).

Well there is a practical use to The Phantom. It's clearly part of the ship's structure- seeing how big The Ghost is, it might not fit in some Hangar Bays, or some other areas too well. As such, a shuttle for smaller areas is a good thing. See: Mass Effect's SR-2 Normandy, and the UT-7 Kodiak Shuttles aboard.

The Gozanti isn't actually that big. It could even be a large base ship.

Especially if you consider that the epic ships are 1/400 scale.

The gozanti is only few meters longer than the falcon

I understand where ALL of the ships are from... I have been at this Star Wars thing for a few years.. trust me.

From what FFG has said so far the rebellion era is the choice era, this new series is prior to that.. possibly the begining, if they wanna go that route great.. I'm just putting out a cautionary statement. That's all.

With the amusing comments about Y wings and Z95s.. since they are from the prequel series.. should we speculate about Naboo fighters too... seriously, the reason those ehips are in the game is because they were in the movies or in the EU books ....

Come on, I can't be the only one who sees this, or are we blinded by desire for new cool ships that we forget the guidelines of the game...

We've already disproven that in another thread. The one in Rebels is significantly large, and the canon size.

You ain't the only one who's been at this for years.

Guess what else could be considered EUish? Rebels. I don't know why you're so averted to seeing them in XWMG.

Something like .. 62 meters.. if I remember right

I do like the design of the Ghost (sans the dumb little ship that is inside it that was solely created to sell toys).

Ghost itself is pretty cool, but my god, seeing that pissed me right off. It looks dumb, the fact that a ship barely larger than a YT-1300 has a "shuttle" that big is dumb (good bye any cargo space...); I just can't bring myself to like it.

I concede it's kinda' silly. But seeing The Ghost without it would be hard to imagine.

Here's a crazy concept though. What if The Ghost came with The Phantom, and The Gozanti came with the TIE Starfighter? That'd be interesting.

I said, it isn't era specific and possibly wouldnt see them use those ships.

EU-ish??

Not really, but I see what you're getting at. I would call the show pre rebellion, as it still has some clone war semantics in it..

It may be hard to classify in the current era ideas...

Like I said, I think the Gozanti would be cool to have in the game, and I've said it in other 'wave' threads... the Ghost is a cool looking ship and like other ships brought from the earlier era, could be a cool ship to do as well...

See, I wish I'd thought of that earlier. That seems like just the type of thing FFG would do. Estimated price for The Ghost, as such? Like, 50 bucks. Gozanti could be ~90-100. I'm not sure it's as big as the CR-90.

as it still has some clone war semantics in it..

wut.

If they do a Gozanti.. I'm gonna be hard pressed not to stick 4 TIEs under it...
