So this past Saturday, I ran a Deathstar Trench Run event using Dagobah Dave's excellent scenario. I really appreciate its commitment to recapturing the feel of the movie.

my outlook on life has improved since ffg released x wing. Seriously. I was always in a good mood and a generally happy person before, but now I just see rainbows (x wings) and unicorns (tie fighters) everywhere! life is good my fellow pilots. life is good.
The Rebels did with Jek Porkins making shot. I ran it two other times that day and the Empire won both times.

Oh good thinking on the clear plastic plates so you can play over the trench dont think i've seen that before.

It looks like they're using a variation of my scenario, which is a smart thing. I wrote that thing when all we had were Wave I ships available, and obviously a lot of cool stuff has come along since then. If you decide to run my scenario, I suggest that you trust your instincts about making alterations and just do what works best for you.
If I ever decided to rewrite it, I'd have the Rebels approach the trench from the right side, just like the movie.
I have to agree and give a big thank you to Dave for such a fantastic scenario. He has really succeeded in renewing my enthusiasm for this game. The scenario captures perfectly an iconic part of the Starwars fluff, brought back some great memories of those of us old enough to have seen the original movie in the cinemas when it was first released, only thing missing from our game session was a large tub of popcorn and half time ice creams! Our little gaming group is screaming for another crack at the trench run ASAP

The match runs about 4 1/2 hours. Each side has 3 players.
Seems like such a simple difference, but I really REALLY like how the ships actually have to go down INTO the trench, OR can remain above to do top cover or w/e instead of just playing a game without the glass there where the trench is basically just a giant ditch in the middle of the board.
I love that scenario, only got to play it once so far.
What's with the red and blue squares though?
The scenario has very specific movement rules for the Trench that mimic the movie. Basically the Rebels always move to the next red square and the empire always goes to the blue, regardless of whatever is in the way. Also the Trench is one-way, towards the exhaust port.
