The Horror Grows

By BrooklynMike, in CoC General Discussion

Thanks to the advice and suggestions here, my daughter and I have gotten into deck construction, giving some serious thought about what cards to include, what Asylum pack themes to exploit, how to balance our decks. Wow, does that ever add a dimension of enjoyment to the game! We played yesterday and were fascinated as our plans and strategies came together, fell apart, were blown apart by each others counter-cards, etc.

After almost 40 years of gaming this is my first card game.. in a sense I'm glad I stayed out of the MTG, Yugio, Pokemon, etc. crazes and CoCLCG is my first introduction. It combines everything I love about games: thinking time, surprise and cinematic drama, great visual art, sufficient complexity, and a chance to spend quality time with my kids. My real test of a game is whether I enjoy it win or lose: I've lost 4 in a row to my daughter and am still loving it!

So what did you end up buying? I've got just the one core set and I'm looking to buy more!

Oh, you are asking the wrong guy! beso.gif I am a real game fiend, so I have the core set and 5 of the 6 Asylum packs... the only reason I don't have all 6 is that The Compleat Strategist here in NYC is temporarily out of stock.

My daughter and I share the decks, she builds first then I build mine.

Right now I'm finding it a challenge to actually work through all those cards, but I think once I see them all over and over a bunch more times it will get easier.

At some point I might consider getting another Core set, but not until I run out of new toys to buy.
