MSRP Wave 5

By Reklawyad, in X-Wing

I was looking up the release date and possibly going to do a pre-order but then I noticed that the MSRP on Decimator is 40 instead of the 30 that the other expansions of it's size have been, anyone know the reasoning behind this?

It is friggin' huge = more plastic = more $$$.

Anyone know how huge? I'm running a little tight on storage space in my Plano box.

I didn't realize it was friggin' huge!!! That's awesome but I too am running out of space in my Plano Box!

I threw this together just for fun. Assuming that the logo, etc. on the packaging is the same size which I think it is, then this might give you a size comparison.

I am altering the deal. Pray that I don't alter it further.

Size matters not.

From what I have heard, it is just short of transport size by a inch or two. So it is REALLY big! This is based on people much better then I am at math on measuring the tokens in the photos and scaling them up to the size of the ship.

Don't put the deadly Egyptian cat-scratch on me if I am wrong... but I am going to make a pretty good guess and say this beast is about six and a quarter inches long by four and a half inches wide or even five and probably an inch and three quarters deep: 6 1/4" L x 4 1/4-5" W x 1 3/4" D

For the Math-Winger-Diversion I am getting this size very easily by noting that ALL of the Large ship boxes Title Text is the same size. So you know how large a Falcon is say, it is then very easy to eye-ball the Decimator size up based on in-hand info.

:D

'friggin' huge' may be a bit of an exaggeration, but it is notably larger than the other Large ships. You can tell in the preview photos off the box, comparing them to the box for the Outrider, that it's in a larger than normal Large ship box.

Here I was writing my reply and you posted this fine example. I did get up and get my ruler out with a Falcon and Falcon Box...

38 meters long @ 270:1 = 5.5 inches long

Here I go all Photoshoping and MajorJuggler pulls out the actual stats. Nice.

Long story short.... friggin' huge and awesome!

Yeah it looks very close. A Falcon model is five inches long. I think the FFG guys gave the new Decimator a nice long nose, it has to be a full six inches long.

:)

VT-49 is bigger and badder. It cost $10 more. It should be released in September. If you save 15¢ a day until then, you'll more than make up the difference.

Here's my Decimater savings jar:

Not too sure September is going to happen. I predict Rebel Aces in early September, maybe late August and Wave Five in November.

I would really guess that FFG already has a small stock of Rebel Aces and plan to soft release them at GenCon in a few weeks. The rest of us will get them early September, about the same time Wave 3 launched last year. Wave 5 however is still at the printer, may be a while on that one... Let's just hope they don't pull an Imperial Aces on us...

Hopefully FFG has wave 5 on display at GenCon or maybe even right now at ComiC Con in San Diego.

If you want to save up the whole $40 plus a couple bucks for tax and a drink to celebrate the acquisition of your new Decimator, you would have to save 75 cents per day.

Personally though, I would be surprised to see it in September.
