Some friends and I were all stumped at the beginning round of bidding where we all bid the exact same amount of PT's for the Irone Throne so we were all tied for the very first bid. In this instance, who decides the tie if the current bidding hasn't resolved who has the current Iron Throne?

We sat and wondered this for about 5 mins and then conceded to allow the holder of the previous Iron Throne to make that decision. Is this correct or is there an official way to decide the very first tie on the very first bid of influence tracks?

You did it correctly. The one who holds the iron throne decides who the winner is in the case of a tie when bidding for the iron throne. After he decides it then goes to that player immediately ( so he decides the next influence track bid tie, if one occurs).
