Holy crap Atlanta regional is gonna be huge

I know that myself and another player from Kingsland are coming, as well as two vehicles from Jacksonville with probably 3-5 people between them, so North East FL / South East GA will be represented, and hopefully we do as well this time around as we did last time (Our groups took 4 of the top 8 slots in Orlando, with the overall winner and another top 4 guy among them.)

Up to 32 players is 5 rounds of swiss seeding rounds.
Up to 64 players is 6 rounds of swiss seeding rounds.

Up to 128 players is 7 rounds of swiss seeding rounds.

The rounds *should* be 75 minutes, but the rules do allow a venus to decrease that to 60 minutes. I personally think that's bad form. Starting at noon is a very bad sign. I think they are grossly underestimating the time required.

I have to say this about the Alanta-area regional, the way Wasteland has promoted it (or I should say not promoted at all), I'm flabbergasted that they won the opportunity to host a regional at all. Aside from their website being insanely difficult to navigate (and near worthless on mobile devices) there is not a mention anywhere on the site that the regional is happening. It's not even on their calendar! I hope that's not an indication of how well they run events.

Game stores rely much more on their facebook pages these days than their actual website, for better or worse.

Is anyone going to be there tonight? We're driving up tonight and are probably going to drop by to bash a couple more lists before the tournament tomorrow, since they apparently close at midnight

Post up your thoughts of the place, i.e. play area, any play mats?, etc. Would be interested in knowing what to expect tomorrow.

Absolute Chaos?! Thats what I expect but in a fun an interesting/exciting way not an "oh no this place can't handle all these people, my list is terrible noooos!" type way.

So, the venue was converted from half of an old skating rink, and has tons of floor space, easily enough for 50 tables. They have a PA system and a dedicated TO to run the tourney. Registration starts at 11, the store officially opens and the tourney starts at noon. The TO is looking into using the cryodex software, but is unfamiliar with it and would probably appreciate help there. She seems willing to work with us, and wants to do 75 minute rounds regardless of attendance, likewise a cut to at least top 8. The store has agreed to stay open until the thing ends, no matter when that is, and she said there will probably be one food break.

The store itself is in the back of a large shopping center, and there are a couple food places near by. Additionally, there appears to be some sort of dollar discount store next door that was closed when we got there. They sell drinks and a couple snacks at standard game store prices.

Now the bad. As usual, the tables will be card tables pushed together to accommodate us. They have a ton of playing boards, but other than 4 or 5 of them, they are cut from slick styrofoam insulation, which is difficult to play on. After two games on it, we figured out you really have to apply pressure to not slide ships and asteroids around.

Just got up, pulling my list and tokens before I leave. Looking forward to flying with you.

May the Force be with you.

How many are there?

news, numbers, etc?

58 total. 6 rounds. Cut to top 8
