The book is on order and we are trying to get a miniature or two for our campaign.
My wife is looking to play a Merc/ Bounter Hunter and was hoping for a couple of the best race suggestion to get the right mini.
So can you help us?
Mandalorian is the best! But alas, it's a culture before beeing a species.
With the current species out, Trandoshan would seem to be the best.
It's in the lore and in that stats.
In mechanically no particular order:
Human, Gand, Klatoonian, Bothan.
Personally I prefer Gand
All +brawn races are pay an exp tax, for some god forsaken reason.
All the ones in the core book work perfectly fine, it's more about what KIND of hunter you want to be. This game isn't like D&D where success depends on careful statting. If anything this game runs a little smoother with balanced characters over highly specialized ones.
You can get away with almost any build that isn't too goofy, but you may have to pay a little extra out of your starting XP pool to do it.
For example a Trando wanting to be a Sniper type assassin bounty hunter is gonna pay serious XP to do it, but would enjoy a good bar fight for free. A Bothan will have to pay if he wants to take care of business in a bar fight, but finding out exactly which bar his bounty head is hanging out in will come more naturally. A Rodian will take to big game hunting like a muppet to Dagobah, but will have to pay if he wants to survive a showdown at high noon with the local gunfighter....

We cant seem to find the card pack for a Bounty Hunter class...is there one or only its specialisations?
Yeah, it REALLY depends on what kind of Bounty Hunter your wife sees herself as. Dengar? 4-LOM? Embo? Bossk? Boba Fett? Boushh? Cad Bane? ...Greedo?
And as others have said, even then, species doesn't really matter so much. Sure, some species lend themselves better to certain skills, but a Bounty Hunter could belong to any species.
Don't sweat the cards, just print out or photocopy the talent sheets.
Bounty hunter is a class though, with specs in Assassin (Sniper, though a sneaky knifey build is also doable), Gageteer (dude with guns and armor and toys, though he can headbutt you in the face pretty well too if he likes), and Survivalist (Field guy that can track and is pretty good at taking down critters).
It's worth saying though that Star Wars uses the term "bounty hunter" pretty broadly, so the Hired Gun class is something you should look at too.

Absolutely. Taking a second spec at character creation is a poor spending of XP in my opinion, but picking it up later works well.
Really want to focus your xp on characteristics and skills at character creation. Characteristics can't be raised afterwards unless you buy raises for them in the lower section of talent trees, so I'd focus those.

@Durek_7...Heck yeah fool!!! Not only possible, but a pretty good combo IMO. That is one thing I like about this game, cross Spec-ing is easy, and highly encouraged.

Picking up additional specs as you go is actually a thing in this system, even between core books. Yoda and obi-wan walked out of revenge of the sith with a couple yet unannounced Jedi specs from f&d, but when we see them again in a new hope and empire they are meevonks deep in the exile spec from EotE.

Not exactly. You can mix Specializations from various Careers (at a slight increase in XP cost), but you only ever have one Career. So you can be a Bounty Hunter (Gadgeteer) and then add a Specialization to become a Bounty Hunter (Gadgeteer, Outlaw Tech) even though you're not a Technician.
I really like how they did races in this book, which means to say they are all pretty balanced. A human with all 2s and a 3 has the same remaining XP to spend as most any other race which bought up their 1 to a 2. (The high brawn guys seem to be the exception.) So really the question is, what race special rules are wanted (several of abilitys are just talents you can pick up anyway) and what race background fluff is desired.
The way I pick my races is this. First I figure out what stats I want higher than 2 and which stats I wouldn't mind as a 1. Then I look through the races to see what fits my needs. From there I make a choice based on special rules and racial fluff.
