Halberd Stats?

By craigpearson81, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

I've had a look through the DH books but can't see any stats for a halberd type weapon. Theres lots of pictures of the Adep Mech showing them carrying similar weapons and I'd quite like one for my Tech Priest.

Would it simply be a great weapon or similar to a scythe?

i would probably just treat it as a great weapon.

You can choose from the simple Staff (for a light variant), the Greatweapon (the massive one) or the Omnisian Axe (a powerweapon) of the IH.

Make up a rule of your own and try to make it both fluffy and ruleswise different from the other similar weapons, while not being always better. Something like: 1d10+1, pen 2, primitive, requires two hands to use. This makes it a bit special, because it will be one of the few primitive weapons to penetrate armour, the damage is not too overwhelming, and you can use the shaft to parry decently. It is a bit nastier than a spear but cannot be thrown. It is a bit nastier than a onehanded axe, but requires two hands. It is way less nasty than a great weapon (who honestly is always better, apart from counter attack), but you can parry with it. And so on.

A chainglaive would probably be something like: 1T10+4, pen 3, tearing, balanced, requires two hands. Does as much damage as the axe, parries like the sword and requires two hands to use so gets some extra penetration.

I don't see the balanced there - unless you distribute the machinery through the entire weapon, its top will weigh quite a bit more than the rest.

Thanks for the comments. I think the weapon should have the unbalanced trait, since i've never seen an example being anything other than top heavy. I was thinking along the lines of

1d10+4R, Pen 1, Primitive, Unbalanced. 6Kg, cost 60.

Yeah, you are probably right. I figured it was a bit like fighting with a spear, but I wouldn't have to worry as much about getting clean and powerful hits due to the motor. And with a spear (outside of formations) I can usually rely on the reach and the shaft to keep me with parrying options. But if I imagine fighting with a lightweight chainsaw strapped to a shaft instead, I'll probably not be as versatile.

@Craig: That seems like a decent option yeah.

Hi,

I'll give it a try as usual:

Halberd:
Damage: 1d10+3
Pen: 0
Special: Primitive, special
Wt.: 5.5 kg
Cost: 35 thrones

This ancient pole arm allows a +10% on manoeuvre tests.
