4 Different Dual Phantom Lists - Discuss

By Fnords, in X-Wing

Been playing around with the Phantom ships for a few weeks now and really love them. Trying to find a good dual Phantom list. Here's some different lists I have come up with.

What do you guys think, pros and cons on the different lists.

LIST 01
"Echo"
Veteran Instincts
Advanced Cloaking Device
Shadow Squadron Pilot
Stygium Particle Accelerator
Academy Pilot
Academy Pilot
Academy Pilot
Total: 100

LIST 02
"Echo"
Veteran Instincts
Advanced Cloaking Device
Shadow Squadron Pilot
Stygium Particle Accelerator
Alpha Squadron Pilot
Alpha Squadron Pilot
Total: 100

LIST 03
"Echo"
Veteran Instincts
Advanced Cloaking Device
Shadow Squadron Pilot
Stygium Particle Accelerator
Bounty Hunter
Recon Specialist
Total: 100

LIST 04
"Echo"
Veteran Instincts
Advanced Cloaking Device
Shadow Squadron Pilot
Stygium Particle Accelerator
Omicron Group Pilot
Darth Vader
Academy Pilot
Total: 100

List 3 looks a lot like one I've been considering playing:

Shadow + SPA + Adv Sens x2

BH + RC.

ADv Sens lets you cloak and then immediately decloak. Hoping to fly them like uber-interceptors for arc dodging. I haven't had a chance to play the Phantoms yet, though, so my ideas are all theorycraft, unfortunately.

All of those lists are viable, but i would use this one:

Echo

Veteran Instincts

Advanced Cloaking Device

Intelligence Agent

Whisper

Veteran Instincts

Advanced Cloaking Device

Recon Specialist

Omicron Group Pilot

Advanced Sensors

Total:100

What you have to do with this list, is run each ship separately and you have 3 viable targets. The Lambda is there because it adds a lot of hitpoints as well drawing attention away from the phantoms, and with AS it annoys your opponent to no end. Recon Specialsit with Whisper is really good because that means he automatically gets a focus for defense when he focuses and if you do damage he gets another.

Sounds like a fun list, looked at that idea to. The thing is that Echo is just so much better and so much more fun to fly that I just have it in my list

Looking at your list you have the same options after selecting your 2 phantoms. Any reason why you went with BH instead of for example a bunch of TIEs?

List 5:

Sigma + Recon + Stygian

Sigma + Recon + Stygian

Howlrunner + Swarm Tactics

Mauler + Swarm Tactics

I love this list :)

To stay on topic I will vote for list 1.

Honestly, since I haven't had a chance to fly the Phantom yet, I figured I'd start with a regular one before messing with Echo. As to the inclusion of the BH.... my love for the Firespray knows no bounds.

Sigma + Recon + Stygian

Nice list there. Looks like fun to play.

Yeah think I like 3xAP or BH the most as well. So hard to decide between staying power or more small agile targets

I hear you the BH has won me do many games. But smaller ships are usually more fun to fly around.

What I like about my list is that it can survive the opening volley from higher PS ships to destroy the lower PS ships that have not fired yet leaving behind the one or two higher PS ships. Then it is mop up. Or if all the opponents ships are lower PS then it is just a matter of picking and destroying the optimum targets, maybe a Biggs as required or those low PS missile boats.

12 dice at range 2 or 3 with two focus, an evade and a Howlrunner reroll is nothing to ignore. Imagine getting the Sigmas and Mauler within range 1....

Sigma + Recon + Stygian

You could remove one Recon Specialist and add ACD to both phantoms. They would have a high enough PS to take advantage of the free cloak

That's what the Phantoms are for :D

Pre-wave 4, my go to list has been Krassis + HLC + RS and a pair of named interceptors. Best of both worlds

Sigma + Recon + Stygian

Sigma + Recon + Stygian

Howlrunner + Swarm Tactics

Mauler + Swarm Tactics

I very much like this list! I think I will try it next time I play. Although I think maybe with advanced sensors instead of recon spec to open up the possibility of the cloak de cloak move so that they can arc dodge. Maybe.

Thinking about it, it also might not be a bad idea to do 2 Shadows outfitted this way, with Yorr outfitted as a buzzsaw shuttle to help pull any stress that might occur off of the Phantoms.

Ah, but you don't want the free cloak, this is a jousting mini-swarm so you want the free evade.

Round 1 - Move 2 and cloak

Round 2 - Decloak, boost 2 and move 2 or 3 - drop 12 attack dice

Round 3 - Plan mop up

You could fly right up to Han Shot First, brush off the damage and strip all shields and take him down to 1-4 hull in a single round. Wedge might hurt one of the Sigmas pretty bad but still not kill it, should still get a 4 die shot off with focus and HR re-roll.

Do not do this for a very important reason!!! This is a mini-swarm and the ships must fly together, this is not Whisper and Echo, these are Academy pilots who boarded the wrong ships on the first day of work. Mauler and Howl just didn't say anything because to requisition new ships would take to long in the glorious bureaucracy. :D

The four must stick together for the first 3-5 rounds. If you lose a Sigma first then you have three pilots PS8 instead of two at PS8 and two at PS7

I 1 rounded Han on strong dice with the following list -

Whisper - VI, ACD

Echo - VI, ACD, Captive

2x Academy

He thought I was going to be more aggressive, and tried to jump past me, shock of shocks, I ended up with all 4 ships at range 1. POW!

See what you going for. Should work great but its just a shame not to get to use those nimble phantom moves (;

That is what Whisper and Echo are for, the Sigmas are hired goons who do what hired goons are supposed to do. Trust me, once you go into mop up mode then there will be plenty of opportunity for nimble phantom moves. They are talking about a tanked up Chewbacca with C-3PO in another thread, this squad can go toe-to-toe.
