Sigh. On the one hand, I love seeing what other people come up with in the way of new sculpts, paint schemes, and the like. I'm not that well versed in the EU outside of the video games, so seeing the work of people more knowledgeable than I am is fun. On the other hand, when I put ideas out there, I do so with the expectation of honest, informed constructive criticism. I have been the beneficiary of just that, and I trust it will improve my game. I haven't played that many times (**** real life), so I do my best to avoid techie questions about game mechanics, as my knowledge comes mostly from trolling this forum.
That said, I was under the impression that the Aces sets were about alternative paint schemes for existing models, as opposed to a means of introducing new ships. Maybe I'm wrong about that. It might be fun to see upgraded versions of the primary ships eventually, especially given the teasers J.J. has given with regard to the new X-Wing. Before that, though, I'd rather see a Y pilot with EPTs show up in an Aces set.
Edited to fix the autocorrect gremlins.

Blueberry muffin.
Yeah I am thinking of a darker purple similar to the slat blue of TIE Defenders as they are done now.
How about a cheeta or leopard print scheme? Or even bengal tiger stripes, they're GRRREAT!!
Fel can saunter over to his Interceptor with the aid of Son of Dolomite's pimp cane....
@gabe So, looking beyond the overall negativity of all parties involved, I agree that the ability to equip a cannon as a turret is too powerful. A 360 HLC would be too much without significant points cost. That said, the Ion cannon turret is 5 points, and the Ion Cannon is 3 points, which forces your upgrade to be at least 2 points to match up on that end. A 360 HLC for 9 points still seems too cheap to me, however.
If you look at my original post, I think the next way to develop the game is through control-styled play. If an anti-huge ship product is ever put together, I think a cannon capable of dishing out 2 ion tokens in one shot would be VERY cool. Maybe Huge ship only (look at the Ion cannon used on Hoth in Empire Strikes Back)? But that's getting off topic.
They could model Y-Wings after Aggressor Wing from Rogue Squadron comics/books, since Horton is already in existence. A Y-Wing only title that grants an EPT to pilots of skill 7 or greater would be a nice touch. Imagine Horton Salm with PTL (Focus + TL), loaded with torpedoes and munitions failsafe, and a 'Wingman' to take off the stress.
Or they could pull a WOTC,break the game, and give us a pair of ewok gliders that each roll 10 attack dice.
Better but you missed a couple of things.
Correct I wish she was actually in the Z-95 pack rather than one of the 2 pilots already in there. I do not recall any EU book where Cracken actually flew, as far as I know he was only the head of Alliance/New Republic Intel not a pilot
I'm not a Mara Jade expert, so what's your reasoning for that statement, you only want to see her as a crew card?
Not if it is Mara Jade.
You think it's too early for a Z-95 Headhunter Ace?
Sorry, I read your answer wrong... it's not too early for Mara Jade... gotcha.
That would make Mara Jade a rebel pilot though.
EDIT: That Mara Jade you linked is just a bit completely broken. Very convoluted rules text too.
This is more the ballpark we'd be talking:
Needs a missile slot, the trim is not purple, and should have an EPT slot, IMO.
Missed the missile slot, but PS 7 would indicate Mara's a better pilot than Garven Dreis. PS5 is no slouch but PS7 is Keyan Farlander and Maarek Steele territory.
Based on the existing pilots, I'd say the pilot ranking goes something like this.
1: Fresh out of flight school
2: Rookie
3: Average
4: Above Average
5: Skilled
6: Veteran
7: Ace
8: Exceptional Ace
9: Legendary
Thanks for that list, I do lists like that myself and I should have given it more thought.
I'm not up on my Mara Jade lore, but I think I'd be willing to meet you half way.

Someone pointed out that there is some kind of Ion Torpedo coming out with the next large ships.
But still a double Ion turret is an interesting idea...

I'm curious to know what "alternative paint schemes" you're like to see?
So, getting added to this list seems like a badge of distinction.

And to think this was all supposed to be about predicting future products through fluff.
IMO, another cool candidate for REBEL ACES 2Fluff: The Y-Wing Mk2 was an attempt by rebel forces to increase survivability of the bomber shortly after the battle for the first Death Star. The battle there had shown some immanent weaknesses especially in engine design and rear protection of the Y-wing.
Four additional Ion Turbo Capacitators (ITC) were added next to the main fuselage to boost performance, two of each capacitators able to turbo charge each ion drive for a short period.
Some additional armour plating was added to the droid section and the main fuselage, especially the vulnerable rear section. After a small number of Y-Wing had been expensively upgraded to Mk2 the Rebellion forces were able to get a hold on the more powerful B-Wing design and ceased retrofitting the Y-Wings.
The Mk2s saw action in a handful of raids against Imperial convoys and proved themselves worthy in combat but to expensive on the long term for the Rebels.
Note that SpikeSpiegel said "predicting future products through fluff", not "spamming the forum with every fan-made ship design you find". The stuff you keep spamming about has absolutely no chance of ever appearing in an official product, just get over it and stop posting.

So, change the minor PS issue that doesn't really matter, ignore the blatantly overpowered pilot ability. Yep, another "quality" post from you.

As long as they come with good upgrades, does it matter?

Second, you insult the others on your ignore list by putting my name with theirs. Sadly, I am not as prolific as they are.
Third, you are proposing for 3 points that an ion cannon turret get one extra red die, one extra range increment, and one extra ion cannon token assigned? Are you sure? It might be too weak.
If you're proud of being a retarded monkey who throws his own sh*t around yeah. So, getting added to this list seems like a badge of distinction.

On topic:
I just want the second Rebel Aces to have an A-Wing with the Green Squadron color scheme.

I don't know, the A-wing getting a second boost before the Y-wing, the HWK, or the Falcon get one? Seems unlikely.
Oh, and chocolate cake with white frosting. Don't tell my endo.

Lets be honest the Falcon could NEVER get an "Aces" release and still be one of the strongest and most popular ships in the game. It seems like every EPT/Crew slot that comes out gets run on the Falcon. Of course with a 3 attack turret it means that as long as anyone wants to run A-wings/Squints/Phantoms it will be there to grind down their hopes.
The VT +miniswarm could replace the YT+3(4)Z but probably not because
1) No access to rebel crew, Luke +Lando aren't bad, Nien Numb is good when you need greens, Kyle+Jan are good too, R2D2 Han Solo meh, Chewbacca is good and C3PO is almost border line broken(and/or under costed)
2) Chewbacca's Pilot text on a Huge ship is just so f***ing good for an 8 hull ship
3)Han being PS9 and his card text works so well with a gunner and marks/recon spec for a 3 attack turret
4) Falcon Title adds more survivability
5)All of the Above(almost) stacking Chewie's pilot text + those defensive crew is just a little ridiculous 13HP with a
attack turret. I would bet it would be nearly Impossible to kill a Chewie+PTL+Lando+3PO+Falcon(52pts Leaves room for 4Z's as an escort) in a 75min game
Not to be completely Anti-Falcon as it is an Iconic ship and one of my favorite parts of the EU I just don't expect its popularity to ever be in danger of needing an Aces pack to be seen on the table and I feel at the moment it may be a tad to large of a portion of the "meta"
quick VT+misc benefits list
1) 16 HP is a beast even with no natural evade dice and/or no known defensive upgrades (besides elusiveness) availible
2)3 Crew Slots could be fun depending on the new Imperial Crew
3) Howlrunner/Carnor Jax can be escorts for powerful AoE abilities
4) Can be paired with a Phantom
5)According to leaks will be less susceptible for blocking
I would really like an Aces set based on combating large ships(and Huge if Imperials get some too) Special torpedoes for Y-wings/Bombers (or Bombs I suppose if Y-wings get a title/mod for one)
Shadow Bombs from the NJO series could be used, timeline wise they may be "too new", but basically they were just oversized thermal detonators set with a contact fuse I would really doubt that no smuggler/pirate failed to use anything like that prior to NJO I would like some way to punch through shields or to due more deal more than 1 damage to a shield
So, getting added to this list seems like a badge of distinction.
Nah, it's basically just a list of people who had the temerity to disagree with him and the gall to voice that dissent. I fully expect it to include most members of the forum by this time next week.

I'm not enough of an authority on things EU, but is that a starfighter weapon in the SW universe?
Also, a Y-wing that can ionize a big ship with one shot feels like it breaks the large ship mechanic.
That said, I most definitely like the idea of updating the Y-wing.
