How do you gain duty?

By lud, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

Simple question, but I cannot find the answer in the book...

Where are the rules for increasing a character duty score during the game?

Page 46 covers the starting values and how to decrease it during character creation to gain XP, and page 49 tells that it reset to 0 after reaching a party total of 100. But how do you get to 100?

The book really doesn't go into a lot of detail, but Duty is handed out the same as XP awards generally when the PC completes a mission/objective that benefits the Rebellion and falls in line with their Duty.

So for a PC with Combat Superiority, anytime they get into a tussle with Imperial forces and win, that would be eligible for a Duty award. Of course, the amount of Duty awarded would depend on the size of the Imperial force. A single squad of stormtroopers probably isn't worth a Duty award, but taking down a full platoon of stormtroopers or an AT-AT (with or without help from your allies) would probably warrant a point or three. Leading an Alliance Strike Force to take out a major Imperial fortification would probably be worth several points of Duty for that same PC.

The book is rather nebulous on how many points of Duty to award after a session though.

The adventure in the GM screen suggests a base of 10 for the adventure, +2 per completed objective tied directly to the PC's specific Duties.

Thank you both, this was nagging me a lot that I could find a rule for this in the book.

I don't have the GM screen yet, so I could not look into it.

It's funny that the lack of a reference on duty gain was not covered by the play testing.

I think it will end up being just like how xp is awarded. It's going to vary from group to group, how often they meet, the pace of advancement desired, how quickly does the GM want their Contribution to rise, etc.

If your group goes for a less mission-oriented flow, consider that Duty is most likely to be earned when the PCs are doing something to directly benefit the Alliance. Personal endeavors can still make for awesome adventures, but they are less likely to have significant Duty awards.

Eat foods high in fiber. No, wait, that's doodie...

Strangely enough, a recommendation was actually included in the beta, but removed for the final product.
