EotE and AoR GM screens

By Skie, in Game Masters

I got my AoR GM screen today and can tell you that the tables are almost exactly the same - there are only minor differences in the weapons section.

Haven't read the adventure yet. Extra rules look solid and generally boil down to adding a blue/black die in certain situations while operating in squads or squadrons.

Just in case anyone was wondering...

It's still worth buying - Darth Vader can intimidate your players now! (or you can combine both screens to have Boba and Vader at the same time :D )

Looking over the new adventure, I couldn't help but notice that we seem to have a lot of adventures so far about droids in revolt!

As I have mentioned before in other threads. The revolting droids is quite amusing for me as a GM when one of my player's characters is a Marxist

one of his quotes "I am going to hunt down that droid and kick him in the balls"

And the droid revolutionaries appeared also in a GM kit (for EotE). But I think it's great - I'm going to reintroduce that droid leader (it managed to escape the players then).

This thread could use some spoiler alerts.

That being said, I think it's really cool to have the droids from Debts to Pay tie in if your players are coming from EOTE into AOR.

Who wants a reject from a Christmas Special '78, when you can have THE DARK LORD VADER on your cover, that is the difference. The Squad rules are in the adventure. And that can make interesting options for the leadership skill.

This may sound weird, but I actually don't like to use the GM screen. I use it, but I feel it's too much of a barrier between me and the players.

I don't often do rolls hidden from players, so I feel like more than anything, it just creates this weird feeling because so much of the role playing is living up in conversation.

Thoughts?

opsnafu, I don't use it as a screen either.

Occasionally I'll reference it, but in my games I roll everything out in the open and I just have me folder with notes in front of me on the table.

I use a small white board for initiative and NPC health.

That's a great idea. I wonder why FFG hasn't created more tools to help monitor that. I guess we're all just used to scratch paper.
