Litko new arc token things for small/big ships pointless?

By Jaden Ckast, in X-Wing

I would say they're useful, except that the forward arcs seem to be exactly 90°, whereas the FFG forward arcs are slightly off that.

I like the Hull and Energy counter, though, just to speed things along and make reading the gamestate easier.

Ya the energy counters are cool but I don't see the point of the template tho? When would you use it? It doesn't extend very far anyways so you would still need the ruler in which case you would just use the cardboard base template.

Also note that it takes a lot of space so, you can't use it when there is another ship close-by.

As for the counters, I never had trouble counting the shield token and damage cards so, it seems gimmicky to me. You still needs to draw damage cards anyway for crits so, it's just a counter thst you add and might forget to turn.

The counters seem totally uselses, since you have to deal cards anyways. I was thinking of getting some of litko's shield tokens in blue and yellow, the yellow being for hull, but the fact that it needs damage cards anyways kinda ruined that idea for me. As for the arc thing, just seems too big. Nice idea, poor execution

Ya exactly, it just doesn't seem very useful, maybe for long range stuff but short range with lots of ships is ridiculous.

I have the small and large ship fire arc templates from Coresec. Despite all claims here, the templates are very handy and useful. We use them in leisure and tournament games and not one have I heard they were not appreciated. I don't like the bigger combo template design from Litko.

Use a laser level. Much less ship bumpage.

It's a very cool idea... but unfortunately you won't be able to use it all the time, since close ships will hinder the placement.

The biggest problem: it only extends the range about 1 shiplength. Why bother having a range finder that only shows you the range by about an inch? That usually isn't the time you need to measure... it's when someone is at range 2-3 and you aren't sure if it's in arc or not.... This wouldn't really help much with that.

That's what I was trying to say. You end up needing to use the range ruler any ways so having the arc template is useless.

I am pretty sure this is to use the x-wing minis in other games, such as full thrust for example.

It's is still intended to be an arc finder template no? Even if you used it in another game it would still be used to check wether something is in arc in which case it's useless at range 1 and doesn't extend far enough to be used for anything else.
