Best imperial books

By Popn618, in X-Wing

I like reading and I know there are tons of "what Star Wars books are best" threads. But what I'm looking for wih my next book is some good imperial propaganda. Of course the xwing series is good and there's tons of stuff about the rebel scum but I'm looking for a more empirist point of view.

Any suggestions?

The comic book "The Making of Baron Fel", one of my favorite stories in star wars right there. Next up to go very old school if you can find it. Look for the "Stele Chronicles" on ebay. It was a short story book that came with the old DOS version of the TIE Fighter PC game. They also continued the story in the strategy guide book for TIE Fighter as well, the one with the black cover not the blue cover with Vader. Although the guide book was about 90% retelling the missions from TIE Fighter in a sort of after action report. It did have stories between the mission chapters that added far more depth to the game and to Marreck Stele's story.

I can't think of the names of the books but Tim Zahn wrote three or four books from the point of view of Stormtroopers. Those were quite good as well. The Empire comic series, although it showed both Imperial and Rebel sides it was one of the first to really dive deep into how things work inside the Empire. Janek Sunber quickly became one of my favorite characters because of that series.

This thread is relevant to my interests...

I know its not a book but the crimson empire comic series is amazing. There are now 3 series out there so make sure you start with the first one. But a series from one of the emperor'sroyal guard is really different, the main character is completely loyal to the emperor's empire not thru fear or his own agenda but for his duty and love for the emperor

Allegiance & it's sequel Choices of One, both by Timothy Zahn, follow a group of Stormtroopers. I wasn't a fan of these novels but lots of people loved them.

Death Star follows multiple individuals all involved with the creation of the first Death Star. Multiple points of view and no main characters besides a few Vader appearances makes this novel quite unique among EU works.

The Force Unleashed & it's sequel follow Vader's secret Sith apprentice as he hunts down Jedi and Rebels. The novel has poor reviews but it's a favorite of mine.

The Thrawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn follows Luke, Leia, Han, etc. mainly but also follows the Imperial Grand Admiral Thrawn from the pov of Captain Pellaeon, who is very pro-Empire but not the sadist Tarkin or Vader was. I couldn't recommend this trilogy more.

Takes of the Bounty Hunters is self-explanatory. It's not an Imperial pov, but all of the characters are obviously working for the Imperials (or are they?) so you get to read their thoughts on the Empire.
