Pure luck or mis-played?

By The Professor, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Greetings from D.C.!

So, I've taken to playing the game solo almost exclusively since I purchased it several months ago, and I have to tell you, it's a great game ... every, single time.

Okay, here's the latest. Last night, while playing four investigators Michael McGlen, Amanda Sharp, Dr. Fern, and Harvey Walters), both Amanda and Harvey enter separate gates (Amanda: The Dreamlands and Harvey: R'lyeh) [Note: no monsters guarding either gate]. During the "Other World" phase, Amanda's card (in Blue) reads, "Pass a Speed check -2...Pass return to Arkham...Fail go to LiTaS...In either event, you close the gate you entered through. For Harvey, he encountered a Nightgaunt.

Amanda passed the Speed check, while Harvey failed the Combat check against the Nightgaunt. Am I correct in that Amanda thus closed the gate (capturing the gate as a trophy) and Harvey returns to Arkham, permitting him to close (or seal, if possible) the gate on the next turn? If I played this correctly, then it was the luckiest combination I've seen in awhile. If not, I need to rework that round.

Thoughts?

Sounds legit to me... now you owe the game so expect horrible things to happen in the future! demonio.gif

Yes, and as I understand the rules, Amanda can also seal her closed gate if she has the means to do so.

MrsGamura,

Thanks!
