The most feared ship/pilot.

By jpltanis, in X-Wing

Has anyone ever done a survey of the most feared ship/pilot (none epic ship and with upgrades aside) and why?

By this I mean, when you see this ship/pilot in your opponent's squad, it will give you a little shake in the boots.

For me, I think it is "Echo"? That bugger is too unpredictable and hits you hard.

It just psychological thing.

Addition:

This particular ship/pilot just tweaks you in some way, be it real or imagined.

Biggs.

He simply destroys your plan (or make it very difficult) if flown by a capable player.

Now, is this a "what pilot would you kill first" or "what pilot makes you worry the most"? I know it's a fine distinction. A'baht makes me worry, but I usually go for Janson first. Tarn Mison makes me happy though, he's super easy to save for last and just kill in one turn.

I guess it can be both. Just has to be when you see this ship/pilot, it does something to you (I can't describe the feeling),

Wedge.

Fel is someone to be feared. Anyone who has gone up against Fel knows that he is not to be taken lightly.

Edit: plus he's Baron so that's a scary title too.

Wedge and Soontir Fel, hands down. Hard to pick between the two, but for each side those are the two. Surprisingly, I don't play against too many people flying Fel despite the fact that most of my friends play Imps. Out of our local meta, Wedge would win.

But Fel+ TC + PtL is probably the worst thing that can happen to you

When I run him, I have PtL + TC + Shield. I love the extra survivability, I hate stealth device for that. 9/10 that shield stops a critical hit (since dice and tokens usually take care of the rest of the lucky attack that does get through).

Han. I like to play the kind of 3-ship maneuverability lists that he practically invalidates just by existing.

Outmaneuver says what?

Seriously though. You know how everyone was a huge fan of PtL Royal Guards? Well I never bought into that. What I have bought into has been Outmaneuver Royal Guards. Devastating, especially against the 1 agility ships. YTs, Y-Wings, B-Wings… but also surprisingly A-Wings. You'd be amazed how much more damage goes through faster when that little bugger loses an evade die.

For the Rebels its a toss up between Wedge and Wes now. I do hate Luke too especially with R2D2 and SU. He takes a lot of focus fire to kill.

Echo is now the scariest Imperial pilot, but don't forget Howlrunner. She can definitely let Ties hit above their weight class. Vessery with a squad built around him can dish out hate and can take a bit too.

You just sold me on Outmaneuver Royal Guards against my Rebel friends who always insist on killing me with Falcons. Thank you for such kindness.

Just want to remind everyone that there is not a right or wrong answer. This so-called "feared" can be real or imagined. It is a personal thing. The ship/pilot that unsettles you a little bit or even you dislike, when it shows up on your opponent's squad.

I get all fake dramatic when I see Biggs, but can usually take him down pretty early. My biggest problem, as said above, is the Falcon, whom I have a hell of a time trying to focus fire to death. Han is theoretically my least favorite, since I prefer high PS ships with initiative, but Lando has been the biggest pain to me thus far.

Might be fun. Perfect counter to a C3PO running Falcon. Oh that's right you can't roll an evade dice. Sorry C3, never tell me the odds!

Soontir Fel. He's been flown really well against me enough times not to have a healthy respect for him. I think his time pay have passed though, with so many reliable stress and ion platforms these days, I don't think he'll shine like he did.

Biggs. I know that I have trouble handling him. Either I fail to focus him down early enough, or I do focus him down early and then I'm in a miserable position for the turns to come because I only blindly focused on killing the bugger.

Biggs and Soontir for me.

i hate biggs at range 3 with stealth and r2-f2 5 dices for the win >.>

R2F2? The one that boosts agility by one, right?

That droid is a joke. Wasting an action to get one more dice is bad. They'd be much better using focus. If they wanna roll 5 greens, you go ahead and let them, but fear not! For focused reds will most likely top unfocused greens

Han probably scares me the most. Throw a Gunner on him and you can potentially reroll your shots 4 times and it's bound to hit something, even at range 3 against a Phantom. The second scariest ship would be Echo, the 2-bank decloaking covers the board insanely and allows players to position her perfectly out of firing arcs nearly all of the time.

Biggs is really annoying, but I've faced him so often by now that he doesn't really inspire fear anymore. I expect rebel players to field him, and I'm surprised when they don't. So, he's become kind of like Kenny from South Park.

No, the threat out there that I've only faced off against once, in which I was murdered (actually, the game was pretty close) is Fettigator. (I'm looking at you, CatPeeler.)

Were you playing the Phantom? Otherwise, Fettigator sounds tough to get to work. I'd be very interested in a quick rundown or mini battle report...

Actually, he flew the Phantom (Whisper) and Fettigator in a 2-ship build. I flew a 1xJonus;2xScimitar;2xAcademy list with some ordnance.

It was my first time facing off against the Phantom, and I had been dreading it. While it took a lot to kill it, I did kill it, and it lost its primal fear factor for me. However, I had neglected the Fettigator so that by the time the Phantom was gone, he could mop up the remainder of my squad.

A tie between Tien Nub and Wedge ... It's a "I want my agility value to mean something again"-situation
