Danish community

By Emmelc, in X-Wing Organized Play

We are a group of players in Aalborg, Denmark. We play every other week in 9K Gaming and are more than happy to facilitate new players. We're still working on setting up a league and tournaments, but I'm sure they'll be on the horizon.

I've seen a few Danish people here, so I know they're there. However, as far as I could tell, they were all from the greater Copenhagen area. Would be nice to see if there were someone from the mainland here as well. ;)

There are.... ;)

The biggest problem is the distance between the groups in the mainland - not such a big problem for the Copenhagen players...

I know of groups in: Randers, Aarhus and Herning...

Aha, well Randers isn't that far off really. Do you know where they play in those cities?

Depends on how you look at it :)

In Randers they play in a local club called Initiativet (you can find them on powerfist.dk) they play mostly every thursday and have also hosted a tournament, with talk of more :) Think you will need to schedule a game if you want any X-Wing players to show :)

Aarhus are primerially home games AFAIK. Don't think that there are any games at the local game shop (Dragon Lair), but they hosted a store championship.

Herning also play at a local club, called Project Nexus (http://www.projektnexus.dk/). For official tournaments they are supported by the local shop - Færges Kælder (http://www.faergeskaelder.dk/) and hosted both a store champion ship and the Assault at Imdaar Alpha event.

Me... I play sometimes at Initiativet in Randers, but mostly at a home game near Horsens where I've played with a mate every Tuesday since the release of X-Wing :) For the official tournaments i drive to Odense, for at chance to play against some of the Copenhagen players.

We have tried to organise us in a facebook group (Aros x-wing) but it is difficult because of the many locations

Hi there, Nikolaj here (from Copenhagen X-Wings). Good to hear that X-Wing has a small following in Aalborg too, I guess the preferred ship MUST be the AA-Wing ;-)

As already written you should join the X-Wing tread/sub forum at powerfist.dk, I am the co-admin of that subforum and there are treads for game nights etc.

I would like to offer a couple of well meant tips or advice which I hope you will find useful (if too obvious then just ignore them):

1) Post on Powerfist. This will keep it an active site where people will look for tourney info, casual games etc.

2) If you have the time/skill for it then consider doing either a blog/web site and get some links on the retailers site. We haven't done it yet here in Copenhagen :-(

3) If point 2 is a bit too much to start off with then consider doing a FB group and feel free to "infiltrate" the Copenhagen X-Wings (and most likely also Aros X-Wing for inspiration and being "in the loop" FB isn't ideal since some potential players might not be on FB but it works ok for events and casual talk and nerdy picture posting etc.

4) Start talking to the FLGS for collaboration on demo nights or regular game nights. And most importantly: get them to order some of the different Game Night kits and other event kits from enigma or even have them email FFG directly. They don't cost too much (unless it's the higher end Store Championships and higher) and they contain some nice swag and posters.

5) Make some small posters or a stack of flyers with info about your gaming group, game nichts etc. and ask if the FLGS will put them on display

6) Make some t-shirts with a logo ;-)

Anyways that's it for now. Best of luck to Aa (my "hometown" in 2005-06)

And Fly Casual

Cheers for the advice. :)

We already have a Facebook group (for most of Nordjylland), so thats not really the issue. :) We just seem to have the same 4-6 guys turn up each time. We're currently in the early stages of planning a tournament. Both Dragon's Lair (Aalborg) and our regular venue 9k Gaming have offered us a place to play.
