My Only Real Complaint About AoR

By Emperor Norton, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

The corebook is too heavy to read in the tub. It hurts my wrists QQ.

Seriously, why did they have to pack 10 tons of awesome into a 1 ton book. Couldn't they have crowbarred it into a half ton book. QQ

Why did they have to use such high quality heavy materials, making it impossible to read for long periods of time unless I'm sitting up with it propped in my lap, which I obviously can't DO when I'm taking a bath?

For those who can't tell, this is a joke praising FFG for the ridiculous amounts of awesome in the book, as well as the super high production values. Good job FFG

My main campaign is Edge of the Empire and the PCs don't seem to care much about the Rebels, so I wasn't expecting to get as much use out of the Age of Rebellion book.

Boy, was I wrong! I've gotten a lot of great ideas from it. Love it!

I really liked Edge, but Rebel games are much more my style, so really I was waiting on this one (even though I played a bunch of Edge too. And have all the Edge books as well).

Same here. Part way through our Edge game, it degraded into Rebels.

I've said it before, but FFG stepped up their game in terms of the art. Since I am a Jedi fan boy (no apologies), I cannot wait to see the F&D in all its beauty.

Not only is the art fantastic, but some of it just makes me consider things I had never considered playing. The Bothan Commander from the beginner game is the first time I've seen a Bothan and gone "man, I want to be that guy." He looks AWESOME (most Bothans just end up looking goofy to me).

Also the Duros picture in the AoR beta pregens. That guy looked awesome. (don't know if he got reused somewhere else, I hope he did honestly.)

The art has been a huge selling point for me after the title "Star Wars" on the front of the book. I started playing RPGs with the first edition WEG D6 system. All the incarnations of the SWRPG have been staple games for my game groups.

I haven't had such inspiration from an RPG's artwork like I do with the pieces in EotE and AoR. I find myself flipping from picture to picture, memorizing what image is where because during gameplay, I remember seeing something that I am trying to describe to my players. Flip to that page, show them the picture, and my description is cemented for my players. It really helps get them into the mental space for the game even if they are not die hard Star Wars fans like I am.
