Duplicate Hero Classes?

By Elliphino, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Has anyone tried using two or more heroes with the same class? For example, two runemasters or two skirmishers?

I just occurred to me that this is a possibility for my group as we have two people that have more or less a full set of all of the expansions.

It's not allowed in the rules, although you could house rule it if you really wanted to. I generally enjoy the interactions of different classes, so the duplication of classes would be personally uninteresting.

well, there's the answer then. I guess there can be only one!

To be fair, I'm not sure that it's actually forbidden by RAW. I could be mistaken, but I don't believe there's actually a rule that says "only one hero of each class may be used at a time."

More correctly, it's assumed that each class can only be used once because the game only provides enough components to use it once. Assuming you only buy one copy of any given box, of course.

"A player may not select a hero class that does not match the archetype icon shown on the hero’s Hero sheet. Furthermore, a player may not select a class that has been chosen by another player."
Unfortunately, they do outlaw it- though they may have just because only one deck per class was present.

holy crap Zaltyre did you just out-rulemaster Steve-o?

daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnng

3 runemasters, 1 disciple.... no way the OL would ever win

Hmmmm ... I accept this challenge. Sounds like fun. I have friends that all have the game. We will break the RAW, and play according to BentoSan's challenge.

Would you care to be more specific? Do you want to leave it generic, or do you want to specify the exact Hero's we play as well?

EDIT: We also have all of the expansions and Lieutenant packs. Do you care which campaign we play? I am starting to like this challenge more and more. I almost always play OL, so I will have to start giving some thought to the deck I play, the Lieutenant pack/plots I may play, etc.

Ovie might win, 3 times as much mage gear needed. Then again, runemasters can just take melee weapons and go melee mage with their ability to turn any weapon into a rune, so there is that.

It was more that he assumed it wasn't in there, I just popped open the rulebook to see- if it weren't forbidden in the rules, it would be a bunch of fun to try.

Melee runemaster was a pain in my ettin last campaign. Runemaster Jaes decided he was going to wield a sword just like the mini.

Heh. I suppose that's what I get for not actually checking the rulebook. =P

Very well, Zaltyre. This day goes to you. =)

I can't see where it says you cannot do it if playing alone :D (just a joke, I like Caos)
