Rear Admiral Chiraneau + Mercenary Copilot + Mara Jade + Predator

Could also add Tactician, even though it would only apply to shots made in the firing arc. That would fit the idea behind the build. Basically, a crew for every range and his own innate pilot ability. No matter what range you're at, if you're within 1-3 then something un-fun is happening to you.

You could also use Captain Oicunn as the pilot, so even action blocking you isn't safe as you'll deal damage from the collision.

Well, I have a different build in mind for him.

Gunner should be almost mandatory on such an expensive ship, to ensure you do damage.

Predator already helps with that, though. 3 dice+focus vs 3 dice+focus gives .64 average damage. Adding Gunner gets you up to 1.15, but only adding Predator gets you to .91. Predator is also cheaper, and as or more useful than Gunner against 1 and 2 agility targets.

Chiraneau's ability is going to encourage him to get Target lock for his action, not focus. In that case, Predator is redundant for the first attack.

I wonder if RAC with Predator and Engine Upgrade would work well. You rely on the passive dice modification abilities and just boost around to avoid incoming fire.

I'd say not Howl. Just not enough ships to really capitalize on her effect. Certainly wouldn't want the TIEs flying too close to the Decimator, or one assault missile against that 0 Agi behemoth is gonna cause you some grief

I'll prefer to use him with Predator and Field Officer. You use your action to give a focus to 2 other ships and still can turn one focus into a crit and reroll 1-2 dice, depending on the opponent PS. Take a Gunner just in case.

I wonder if it's possible to give one of the focuses to the ship that has fleet officer. Probably not though. Not sure on the technicalities.

No one really knows how Fleet Officer works, and FFG's policy is to not answer rules questions about unreleased material. I think it's probably fine either way on RAC.

Well it says "up to 2 friendly ships within range 1-2". I just don't know if you can count yourself as "within range 1-2". I mean technically the range band starts just off your base, so you aren't in your own band. But there's a precedent for a ship including themselves in their own ability without mentioning it (Etahn), so I figured "hey, wishful thinking why not".

Yeah, but I am kinda feeling like if you're gonna fly a Decimator, you gotta really commit to it. So why not splurge on the points? Let's have some fun. Besides, not really sure a 0 agility ship is gonna be great competitively, but it sure will be fun to fly 'er about.

I suppose it would be a good choice. The most unattractive part of that prospect then becomes another 4 points. I think I'd much prefer something like Predator. Better chance to hit. I think Expose works best on things that already have some innate way to increase their likelihood of getting their dice changed. Hmm, I wonder if that means Expose would be good on Vessery… Ion, k-turn behind them, and then Expose...

Nah, expose take an action and I would much prefer to take it to give a focus to 2 other ship with Field Officer or just to focus or TL.

There is not and likely never will be a perfect ship for Expose.

Plus the EPT. I would not be surprised if it's defense-oriented.
