2 CR-90 epic list!!

By rrleonc689, in X-Wing

So if you were planning to run a 300 point list running 2 CR-90's, what would you guys do? Or would you prefer to run only one CR-90 with other ships?? I am having my forst epic battle soon, and I am tempted to run 2 CR-90's because I have a feeling he will never expect that, however putting all my eggs on one basket is a little scary.

I dunno man. I have the inkling that if you do that you'll be toast.

But I might be wrong.

You can't fly 2 CR-90s in one Epic game, unless you're modifying the rules. Each team has 5 Epic points. A Corvette is 3, transports are 2.

Yeah we can use anything we want, no limit on epic points.

I'm also looking at an epic game in a few weeks from now. I'm thinking of flying a CR-90 and a GR-75. I'll have a friend flying the escorts. I hope he'll keep me safe.

Oh I love topics like these.

At 300 points, it would be best to have one, tops. Now, around 500 points, I can see 300 points of corvettes with 200 in escorts working, but not very well.

Also, there are 2 corvette builds at the moment, one kitted out for being a gunship, to dish out and receive fire. The other is the command ship, doing coordinates, passing out target locks, and clearing stress/giving focus.

There are lots of unique cards that both builds need to be effective and if you try to fit two that try to do the same roll, they both are diminished.

Typing on my phone, so I didn't want to go in depth more.

I strongly recommend against it. The Corvette, to be able to hold its own, needs at least 130 points. Slapping a GR-75 on top of that will mean you don't have much in the way of an escort...Just my two cents

2 Corvettes may work better than just 1 because it allows you to overlap the dead zones to provide some cover for the other. But you have to be concerned that most of your attack power will come from your hard points so you need to build your energy up so if your opponent rushes you you won't have time to build u enough so you will only get your primary attacks limiting your offensive output

On the other hand, if the opponent rushes behind you, good luck protecting your engines. Once those are toast, the Fore is going to be starved for energy to power it's weapons.

What are these builds?

Are there any small variations on the two builds?

CR-90s die pretty quickly under full bombardment from the larger part of an Epic Imperial squadron.

Yeah for as cool as the Huge ships are they NEED Escorts.

If he goes heroic on you and it looks like he is going to leave his proper position at your flanks and rear... SMACK HIM!
