Hi guys i was wondering if i should repaint my intercepter with bloodstripes cause i already have 1 intercepter and im going to get imp aces. Im not sure if i should trade my royal guard for 181st or just repaint? Suggestions?

I'll be getting Imp Aces sometime soonish. I have three stock TIE/ins, and I plan not to paint them. I want the aces to be special, and have them contrasted by the standards.

I have squints, both with, and without blood stripes. Even if you fly all 181st squints, the blood stripe is only for those with 10 or more kills. Some of your flight could be such ships, or rookies that don't warrent the stripe.

That said, of my original 5 squints, I did repaint 2 with stripes, and now own 3 aces packs, so I won't need to repaint anymore 181st types...

Just a personal thing I think, I like the idea of having the aces flying ships with the blood stripe..

If you do it and then want to fly low PS Interceptor generics they'll be flying with bloodstripes they haven't earned.

Yeah, the ones with blood stripes should be the squad leaders and the regular ones should be the mooks.

I bought an interceptor a month ago just to repaint it red to match the one in my Imperial aces.

You'll definitely want some good masking tape specifically made for painting (like Tamiya). You'll get the best results using an airbrush but that another topic entirely.

Freehand is possible but much more difficult.

I did mine using the tamiya tape mentioned above, and then used a brush to paint it. I took the brush and loaded it up with paint then wiped off most of it to get the desired effect. I then in a straight up and down motion dabbed it on the ship, it was a light coat, but it doesent run under the tape. I did this a few times until I gotnthe desired effect.. or color.. then I removed the tape and weathered the wing, using a light black wash.

I've been painting for 40 years so I was confident of my skill and the technique.

If you do get some bleeding under the tape you can easily use black paint and free hand the repair.. it's easy to do, and needs a steady hand.

I did mine before FFG did theirs...

I painted the stripe on my third one. I don't regret it. Never used the lower PS inteceptors. Always felt that they are vunerble compared to the others.

Edit: I used tape to makes sure. If I were you I would do the same.
