Yup... Hit + Run tactics with the A's will be decent for once... Might even through Corran w/ an EU in there too!
Thoughts on a Rebel Aces?
B-Wings are still and always going to be awesome. The B-Wing upgrades actually just add more options to ship that needed nothing. Granted the new crew and B-Wing pilot rock, but it wasn't the playerbase's priority.
A-Wings on the other hand.... oh boy! The A Wing will now be the cheapest rebel option for an EPT at 15 (with the refit). Additionally it'll be the only ship to have 2 EPTs. this opens up a whole new world of possibilities. Consider a list like this for example:
Look at this:
Green Squadron Pilot + A-Wing Test Pilot + Chardaan Refit + Push the Limit + Outmaneuver (23)
Green Squadron Pilot + A-Wing Test Pilot + Chardaan Refit + Push the Limit + Outmaneuver (23)
Etahn A'baht + Advanced Sensors (35)
Airen Cracken (19)
Plus we've got proton rockets that make their way into the game - which are awesome!
You can't have a EPT at 15. The prototype can't have the veteran. Ps is too low
Shoot I meant to say 17. I had my squad builder OPEN and was LOOKING right at a GREEN SQUADRON pilot as I was typing that. My math is awful today! thanks for catching it.
I'd just like to point out 6 protos cost 90 points. Gives you 10 pts for upgrading 5 to greens.. or 2 to greens with some epts. or even a few missiles.
And then Keyan is going to be awesome, and oh so very versatile. You're almost better off putting something like Predator on him and using the dial to self stress since there's so much red... But I'm sure plenty of people will be putting PTL on him anyways, though imo it defeats his purpose a bit (you won't always want to BR, so you'll be TL+F in order to stress, so you can remove the stress via his ability, leaving a F for defense on a 1agi ship... not that great of a use imo).
Opportunist, my friend... Opportunist.
Opportunist on Keyan just screams at the (smart) opponent to not spend his token, then you're left with a 3 dice (or 4 with HLC) and no "focus" to modify. I'm sure it'll get PLENTY of use like that, but I'm unsure that it'll be a competitive us of 33-40 points.
Its a strong recommendation to run Wes, this enables the ability, and gives them a target they probably want to focus instead of Keyan.
For those that say not to use the b-wing I say watch the current world Champion Paul Heaver who's squadron for the finals was 2 x-wing with biggs dark lighter and the rookie pilot and 2 b-wings with advanced sensors on both. i think the b wings are a very good ship to play with i havent flown my a wing yet but it is rather agile so we will see and i will be glad to get the rebel aces once it is released.
thanks
Mike.
I can see how they might have been talking about the named B-Wings.

Well, one Zealot alone would be 100 minerals, so six of them would be 600 minerals. That's just the basic ground unit, mind you.

haha yep.
hey a squad of SM scouts is only 90 points.. if i take 2 squads with shotties with a fast attack option of a scout landspeeder..
Edited by oddeyeThe A-wing gets a big boost with proton rockets that will give it a 5 attack. It is the one missile that was design for an A-wing over a Z-95. Heck even the imperials will love it as the Tie Advance gets a better missile.
Don't have room for the missile? Then simply knock the point value down to 14 with the refit. Also since it is a missile upgrade slot you can still add modifications and or a title.
The ability to turn stress into focus is going to make the 2 K-turn on a B-wing brutal. You could try and 4 or 5 boost if you survived a range 1 encounter with a B-wing but it will still be in range and focuesd. The Passenger upgrade will make it sort of expensive. You could give it better survivablity with C-3PO in the back seat giving you an evade.
But as I said before it is not about what you can do with only the pack but what you can add to your squadron with the pieces from the pack. Just like imperial Aces before allot of people got it for the hull modification cards and push the limits. So people did buy Imperial Aces for their rebel squadrons. taking a look at what you can do for imperials with this pack. I already mentioning proton rockets as Imperials have more missile equipped ships with good agility. Taking a look at Enhanced scopes the ability to move first can add an advantage also it is cheaper than advanced sensors. Still I can see a combo with say Shuttle, Enhanced Scopes, Engine Upgrade, and Anti-pursuit laser.

yes the new rockets will be nice on the a wing. unfortunately you have to pay an extra 2 points for any missiles now since you can take the retro fit / sort of an odd arrangement now compared to other ships with torp and missile slots (still not complaining though, happy with retro fit)!

The Land Speeder Storm is actually a dedicated transport for scouts now, so you don't have to waste a Fast Attack slot.
why is this happening?
Jake Farrel and Keylander are going to be stupid good.
Emphasis on the word stupid I'm afraid.
Chardaan refit was a great idea, and also rational as it has even some negative effect (losing a missile, no big deal however). unlike with Keyan... His ability is so irrational. It's like having a gonorrhea and becoming the town's most wanted stud because of that.
Keyan is going to be really goofy now that rebel captive is seeing so much use
sigh
More ranting on Keyan. I still prefer Wedge.
Has anyone else noticed that Push the Limit says you may perform an action on your action bar...
I never noticed that before nor does I think it matter until now as a A-wing can't use an EPT as their PtL action.

Actually it depends on the EPT, some of them add an action to the bar like Boost on Engine Upgrade or Evade on the Falcon title.
and people just say out loud, don't bother with a B-wing.
Like others have been saying, I'm not sure where you're from, but that's not a thing that is said, lol.

OK, Keyan, Opportunist, and Sensor Jammer. The ultimate joust ship (against higher PS opponents)?
Keyan is borderline overpowered. When I saw his card for the first time, I joked (hoped) about it being an errata.
Other than that, the rest of the pack is very nice, and so, it is rightfully preordered.

EPT is Elite Pilot Training which I'm not aware of any that add it to an action bar, while Engine upgrade is a modification. ![]()

Sure you can. You just do the EPT action first. Creates some minor limitation in ordering, but it's usually a very minor limitation.

Oops. Kinda Hodor'd that. The worst part is I even double checked the cards before hand. I think I'm gonna go back to lurking...

Unlike a normal Focus token, you have to roll at least one eye result to be able to trigger him. How often that's likely to not happen with 4 dice(assuming HLC) and probably a target lock I'm not sure, but it is still possible he can get stuck with the stress when you don't want him to be. In that way, when you can clear the stress it's a lot more directly powerful, but it's not as reliable as say Hobbie or Porkins. It does still seem pretty strong, but if anything I'd say he's undercosted, rather than overpowered. We'll see when he hits the table.
are you sure? you don't have to roll any focus results to use garven dreis...

"When attacking, you may remove 1 stress token to change all of your (eye) results to (hit) results."
Hrm. Actually I might be wrong. I thought it was worded differently but it's pretty much the same as "Spending Focus Tokens". Well crap, yeah, in that light it does seem a bit much. Hobbie has to spend a target lock, and Porkins has to risk hull damage; Farlander can K-turn then just throw the stress away, whether he needs it or not to boost his attack? I think I might need to revise my opinion...
I suppose interceptors with higher P.S. would be good - give farlander no shot to relieve his stress with,
Whether Keyan us overpowered or not, I'm not a huge fan of taking one of the game's checks & balances - stress - and turning it into something positive.
I know other abilities may give you an ability if you have a stress token (like Ibtisam) but giving you a bonus that also removes your stress isn't good for the game in my opinion. Hopefully it doesn't become a trend.
I'm also a bit disappointed with Imperial Aces compared to Rebel Aces. FFG really couldn't give Kanos an EPT or not giving Lorrir a stress when using his pilot ability? Both of those changes are no-brainers to me but instead ensure those pilots will see little to no playtime.
