Might Rebels get a 4 attack ship?

By Gibarian, in X-Wing

As a faction-loyal player, I find myself suffering from Phantom envy.

Having followed some of the future release speculation threads, I'm familiar with some unreleased EU ships, but not to the extent where I've cannon-counted and worked out stats. Are any of them contenders for 4 attack territory?

The K-Wing seems pretty beefy, but a lot of that looks like short-range firepower and/or optional ordnance.

I wonder if it could be a 4-dice ship that could only attack out to range 2 in its arc, or something. That'd be interesting to play with.

It's called Heavy Laser Cannon and the Rebels get to put it on a turret.

B-Wing with a HLC. Problem solve and actually better at long range.

Man will the Empire community cry that their Phantom is unplayable when this thing hit the table....

Wes with Wedge and Luke, with the second two having opportunist!

Hey the only time I ever cried in this game, was when I got in and the stocks were super low. I was left with just 6 of the starter ties, and near zero options. I didn't even have a squint. I was so jealous of the rebels. At this point I don't feel jealous and with the release of wave 5, and Imperial huges, I'll be quite content indeed.

Yeah as pointed out hlc have been in game for ages now, a tooled up phantom will come out around the 40 point And take nearly a half of your points so it should be effective, if it were 24 points fully tooled up you'd have every right to moan, as it is its a glass cannon it hits hard but one bad evade roll and it's debris.

I don't know of a rebel equivalent but if one was added I would not throw a wobbly, but it will be a costly beast.

I don't think we will see a natural 4 again. If anything thing was gunna have it the E-wing would have. I like the fact the phantom has its four. Gives it even more of a unique feel.

I agree, the E-Wing should've had 4 attack dice.

Either way, I think the only reason the Phantom has 4 dice is because there can potentially be several turns where it cannot shoot. But then they got the ACS soooooo.....

Yeah I was in the same boat mate every where I looked squints were £30 or more yet rebel stuff was largely available, I'm glad I held out until the reprint but I was tempted a few times.

Maybe the K-Wing,but hopefully it won't come to that.

Same here. The only time I cried a bit was during that horrible six month dry spell. But FFG has gotten their ducks in a row and it is all good now.

Why would the E-wing have 4 attack dice? it only have 3 cannons, the X-wing have 4, the Interceptor have 4.

I'm not saying FFG made a mistake ( quite the oppersite )

I meant more that if any rebel ship out so far had a chance to be 4 attack the E-wing was it.

Edit: just to be clear I think FFG made the right call for balance to leave it at 3. At 4 the E-wing would been a little too good.

I thought they would give it two attack dice and a cannon slot. Would have been thematic.

It would make this game pretty boring if both factions had identical ships. Right now they have a good balance and each faction has its unique ships.

I can't imagine what it would be like to add another faction.

What other x/x/x/x combo would people like to see?

1/2/3/4

You know, to help with the counting.

aww come on itsn ot like any other imperial stuff has 3 attack like the rebels do most of our ships have 2 attack and only the big ships have 3 with interceptor and defender counted in the glasscannon with 4 attack dies pretty fast to. and i mean i can understand the envy but u guys have astromechs !!, turrets !!! ok we get our first turret ship aswell but with 0 agility nuff said ;P. and no to 4 attack rebel ships they have good fire power and dont need more ;P

I would not be suprised if the Rebels got a four attack ship when the new X wing that was revealed from the Episode 7 set comes out in 2015 or so. It will be a better version of the x wing that we already have and I bet it will be better attacks and or evade and a better dial. It might also be the first ship to have a duplicate pilot of another ship( if Luke flys one) It will cost a ton of points but that will only encourage the current trend of small number of ship builds.

Last time I checked, the Empire can use HLC too, so don't complain too much about it. The Firespray, arguably the best Empire ship for a long time now, is a perfect platform (not to mention with Krassis...)

Sure they Rebels are getting it on a turret. But Imps still have cloaking. And that turret has a big blind spot at range 1. So get your nimble little ships in there and don't complain. If you wanna play Imps, then use their strength, maneuverability, to counteract our strengths. If you can't do that, maybe you're playing the wrong side.

We might see a StealthX with 4 attack and a cloaking ability. Right?

Umm, the Rebels already have a 4 attack ship. The Corvette...

I hope so.

That blind spot at range one means nothing at all when the ship has Barrel Roll as an action.
