EPIC: Three & Six Ship Squadrons, Are you Going For It?

By Joe Boss Red Seven, in X-Wing

All I shall state is - look at the SIG. Does it look like I stop at 6? :P

Lmfao!!

Dude-I'm feeling positively sensible now:-)

Not that I'm judging (I'd probably have a full 12 ship squadron of every ship if I could (who knows maybe I'll end up with that anyway) but go on-what's the reasoning behind those numbers...?

If only i had the money for it. But hey, hope you guys have fun :D

And let's be honest-large ship numbers like these are in the main redundant for playing the game and definitely NOT a prerequisite for xwing fun...

Yeah, you can have a lot of fun with a dozen ships total.

<_<

There is another level of fun however, for we who own armies rather than squads.

:)

Alright, if you were to add everything all up (preorder included) what would the points total be? (Build it like a list, including named pilots like howelrunner, but don't add them just to have named pilots)

Also: WHY 18 B-WINGS!?! THIS IS MADNESS!

Instead of just 12 of every ship, I buy 12 of every product. This is due to upgrades and other stuff on some things. In addition to extra paint jobs.

Also, the 18 B-Wings? 6 normal, 12 Rebel Aces on pre-order

Blimey! So you look like you have a fair number of painted/modded ships then (especially interceptors!). As a mini' collector from other games I totally get collecting beyond the standard game number requirements...:-)

I bet your xwing mini shelf looks mint....:-)

Believe it or not, they're not on display. They stay boxed, ready to go. In addition, I have not modded a single ship. No desire to, and completely unfamiliar with painting miniatures. In addition, don't have the steady hands for it. The paint schemes I referenced were mainly those of the Aces.

Ok fair enough, the FFG std paint jobs are pretty good actually so additional paint jobs are definitely optional. You ever had chance to field all the copies of your ships (like 27 interceptors)? Definitely do it if you get th chance... Muchos fun

Most interceptors I've fielded at once has been 4, in a 100 point game. As far as most of any ship I've fielded, that would be the 8 X-Wings I put out in a tea epic game, where I was playing both teams. They accompanied a Corellian Corvette to victory.

I currently have access to 4 TIEs, 4 TIE Interceptors, 2 Bombers, 1 Advanced, 2 Defenders, 1 Phantom, 2 Shuttles and 2 Firesprays (they werf flammen). Though only one of each of those last two belong to me, my friend lets me use his as well since he only plays rebel and bought them for the upgrades.

Of all those ship types, I can see buying one more Defender, and maybe 2 more TIEs. I tend to like flying slightly heavy lists, so I don't generally have the points to buy a lot of small, cheap ships with. But I can see running Rexler or Vessery leading a formation of 2 generic Defenders on attack runs against ships, always trying to keep them together. One of the cheapo chaps at the back can TL, and if people fire at him then so what. He's farther back, better evade.

I don't really see buying any more Interceptors, because I'd likely just get IA if i feel the need for any more. Maybe pick up another Bomber or two if I want to try a flight of them, but that itch went away when I got my hands on the Defender so it's unlikely. And I'll never directly buy another TIE Advanced (though if it comes up in a future Imperial Aces pack then I'd be more than happy to have that).

You will like the EmpAce man, you should get one copy anyhow.

12 tie fighter reporting in :-)

I need your boys deployed in two six man squads one to each flank and cover my six.

;)

Do you mean Imperial Aces? As in Carnor, Kanos and more PtLs than I can shake a stick at? I already have it.

Okay yeah cool then.

:)

Trust me, that was one of the first things I bought when I could. They'd just announced it right around the time I started playing. Can you imagine? That was the thing I wanted, and I had to wait forever for it. Interceptors are one of my favorite ships, and they're the reason I wanted to play Imperial in the first place.

I feel the same way about Epic in general.

;)

I know the Doggies thing is the game base, but three or six ships adding up to 100 points is just not that dramatic for my time or money.

I mean sure it is cool and a fun little game but man I want STAR WARS to be EPIC !

I have no problem at all playing out a game over a Saturday, taking brakes and coming back to it until the whole huge battle is done.

:)

I had a really great Epic match today. Started out poorly, but I ended up winning massively thanks to my Defenders and some really determined bombers. And by 'determined' I mean "Determined". As in Jonus shrugged off three critical hits. Hahahaha.

Go Jo Go!

Determination is amazing on Bombers...
