Innsmouth is going to be tough!

By pittplayer, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Judging from the preview Innsmouth is going to be the toughest board. From what i gather just being in Innsmouth can get you devoured not too mention the longer u stay the deepones are coming for you!! So with that in mind does that mean that the locations in Innsmouth are going to be super usefull? Since Innsmouth is so dangerous why would you go there? Great locations can only be it.

Probably something to do with stopping/slowing down a deep one track, etc.

I wouldn't visit kingsport but you have to stop the rifts, so I suppose it will be the same with Innsmouth.

I am so looking forward to this expansion :)

so you are saying deepones invade arkham? i hope not i hated how kingsport opened rifts in arkham. It never made much sense. In the story the deepones invade Innsmouth not arkham come on ff get it right!

This is a game in which a homeless man can defeat giant spiders using a magic trumpet.

My point is that the spirit of HP Lovecraft's weird fiction has long since flown out the window in this game. If Innsmouth Horror is about a cocktail waitress defending a fish and chip shop against alien bees, that will still be nowhere near the maddest thing in AH. Deep Ones in Arkham itself seems to be a fairly conservative treatment of the Mythos to me. I'll settle for anything as long as it's not leprechauns coming in by parachute.

sure but are you saying you dont care? i do and that is why i am saying something. I like the board expansions to be kind of self contained and not always having to do with the arkham board. i mean the dunwich horror doesnt rise in arkham but in dunwich, make sense! kingsport rifts in arkham? huh? come on! this is an action adventure game based on hpl, which means hpl flavor with action and fighting elements, but is still hpl!!!! ff get it right!

Ah, well, if you're talking about how well the rules mechanisms work, then you might have a point. Kingsport was a bit of a botch, in my view; all the real excitement still happened in Arkham, and Kingsport itself was quite stale.

I really hope that something happens in Innsmouth, although I'd be happy for a Deep One invasion to happen on all boards at the same time. I don't think mixing up elements of the individual stories is a significant betrayal of the theme.

a deep one invasion and also a super shoggoth would be sweet!

That... Would... Be... The coolest game EVER!

But you see, that's what's so great about Kingsport! For an outsider, everything seem to be stale and stable and quiet. But once you explore Kingsport a bit you realize that not everything is what it appears.... over town, rifts open and it's up to you to track them down and close them or else time and space itself will be distorted in Arkham. And as you investigate the town, strage things happen... like the encounter at the Kingsport hospital where a doctor is dissecting a strage creature... how did it got there?! The investigation feels much more atmospheric. It's not like Dunwich or Arkham where the evil has face: Gates, monsters... In Kingsport, it is the unknown you're facing... you never know what could happen.

People! No one is necessarily saying that the Deep Ones invade Arkham! The first announcement of the expansion said that you cannot ignore Innsmouth or the Deep Ones will rise and bring the Ancient One with them. Quite possibly, when the Deep One Rising track is filled, the Ancient One immediately awakens, summoned by the Deep Ones' rites..

Interesting theory...............................................................
