Ordering overseas

By DreadStar, in X-Wing

I am about to make an order to the US, i am thinking between miniaturemarket and coolstuffinc for stuff that isn't avaible in my country (and won't be in quite some time). I am from Europe, but i don't like the prices from wayland or element games for Xwing, so i thought about buying from the US online retailers.

Do you guys from Europe have any experience with it ? Should i choose one or the another ?

I've ordered from miniature market a few times, not had an issue once. Usually takes a week from dispatch to being in my hands.

P.s. I'm in the uk.

At the moment most things are available in the UK at decent prices, ordering in the US, might have been reasonable option a few months ago but after postage and customs duties etc I really don't think it is at the moment.

Where are you and what are you looking to buy ?

Yeah, sorry for the thread, there is no need anymore. I looked at the shipment costs, not worth it where i live. I was looking for a decently priced transport and core game. Thank you anyways guys.

I've ordered from Miniature Market. It was well worth it for me, even after postage and customs, since Imp Aces weren't available outside the US at that time! Was still a money saving too since I ordered a transport and then sold it on ebay minus the X-Wing and small ship cards for only £5 less than I paid for it.

It really depends on how much you order and what those items are. If you can go for the small expansions and get quite a few then you can make a saving. Or, if something is on special offer. I know they had TIE Bombers on offer for 1 day at something silly like $6 but they'd sold out by the time I got online. I remain incredibly jealous of US prices. Thinking of putting in an order whilst I'm over there on holiday. Rebel Aces should be out by then.

Games Lore is good to order from if you are buying in bulk as they offer increasing discounts. So, club together with some friends and enjoy 5 or 10% off the lot. Euro Trash Games had a great offer on Wave 4 stuff.

Sorry, am i reading that right. A store in america can ship to you in a week? Thats pretty amazing, is the postage dear?

bookdepository.com

good prices, no transport costs, based in the UK, so no custom duties. Only downside is no track & trace and a bit longer delivery times (about 10-14 workdays). Best option i found yet in Europe

At the moment chaos cards has starter sets for £19.99 post free, use the discount code EXPO-10 for a further 10% off, plus its post free. I did this last week.

The book depository did have transports for £32.17 post free, but are currently out of stock, myself I'd wait till they get more in stock as its a good saving.

I am not in UK, so chaoscards would still cost me the post. I will check it out anyways tho, thank you all for the amazing tips and information.

My order took a week and a half to arrive, which still isn't bad. Go onto their site and create a basket of whatever you are thinking of ordering, then view basket and add in shipping destination for a quick and easy calculation of postage cost. In my experience, there is a big jump in postage when the parcel gets to a certain size/weight (not sure which) and they have to change the shipping option. You'll see two options if you're not above this size/weight (guessing it's a weight thing).

Slow on the uptake on this thread sorry, but; I've made regular use of "games sesh" (uk based but does deliver to Europe) and games lore (also uk based). No probs with either. In fact games sesh in particular have been fantastic; prices are competitive, they give a 10% discount for signing up to their newsletter (monthly not weekly like games lore so not intrusive) and their customer service has been 1st class (I did post a review of them on their site in case you're interested). Just a heads up tho-I believe they're currently out of wave IV stuff...

P.s. I'm also jealous of the US xwing prices/availability but hey-I'm also jealous of their weather, petrol prices, space, etc, etc, etc

Hello! I'm from Italy! I use to order from miniaturemarket and everything was perfect with my past orders.

I have ordered 5 times X-Wing stuff from them: with priority mail I have to wait from 7 to 13 days usually, but most of the times the pack is delivered in 8-9 days.

I agree that the european price is too expensive: 10$ with MM vs 15-16€ (almost 21$) here in Italy for a single blister pack is unbelievable...

Ordering just blisters, they will deliver you a small box and shipping cost are cheap. With bigger packs like aces, shuttle, rebel trasport and so on, shipping costs are higher but still good.

Hope I've helped !!

If you are ordering in the US from any EU-country you might have to check on the customs-policy of your country towards the US and policy of the shop you are ordering from towards international customers.... Some US shops offer no-VAT-prices to international customers which can lead to complications when the stuff is imported and goes through customs, causing you to pay a customs fee

I'm from Germany and here it usually works that way, that you get no-VAT-prices at many US retailers but then have to pay a fee based on the market worth of the items as VAT-equivalent (makes ordering collectibles and limited editions from the US a pain)

Anyone from the UK know what our customs charged for about a £20/30 order at somewhere like miniature market. Is it VAT?
