X-Wing as home/office decorative pieces

By gundamv, in X-Wing

In your opinion, would X-Wing Miniature figures be suitable decorative pieces for a home or an office?

I think that they would as the sculpts are very well done and the subject matter (Star Wars) is sufficiently mainstream that even people who do not know about X-Wing Miniatures Game would understand what the figures are supposed to represent.

I am interested in hearing what you think.

I considered getting a second Tantive to sit on my desk at work, but it would need to be a real good deal for me to do that. Not sure about any of the others, maybe a Falcon though.

Nothing wrong with having a Falcon model on display in the office. Mine was out for a while but I occasionally cycle through other ships just to see if anyone notices. Darth and 2 TIEs are a favourite formation.

My wife asked me to get a second Falcon just so she could have one for her office.

The ffg models are nice but they are not the only ones out there I'm sure you could find cheaper model kits out there to decorate your space.

My Tantive is displayed on a bookshelf back home for three reasons:

1 - It looks good

2 - I don't intend to bring it anywhere just yet

3 - Unlike every other ship, I don't really like the default plastic box that it came in (almost knocked an engine loose trying to get it back in), so it's safer there until I find a good storage solution.

Just bought my GF a Falcon for her office. She also has a Yoda Lego Clock... her students love it.

I picked up one of those model car display cases, it's all plastic nothing fancy might of been 8 dollars and I use that to display one each of all the Imperial fighters and the Lambda shuttle. I put a small dot of Elmer's glue to keep them in place, since it's not a permanent type of glue so I can easily remove them. The case is perfect for display and it keeps the dust off.

My fighters constantly adorn my desk's highest shelf. It's majestic.

I have a Tie Phantom on my desk which I rather enjoy. Something iconic would probably better, but I just like the Phantom.

I have the Falcon sitting on my desk at work right now. No one even gives it a second glance.

I would say the pieces are suitable. They're pretty mainstream and they're relatively inoffensive.

Unless you upgrade of course. ;)

For the size and cost, I'm not sure you'll find much better then FFG for display pieces. I just spent a few minutes looking for Millennium Falcon models on Google and didn't find anything that was better for less.

NOT my auction, but I did buy one. $50.89 includes shipping. Got it in 4 days.
