Honest Merchants: Rebel Convoy Swarm

Ok, this build is definitely odd in that it is all 2 dice attacks, but messing with the squad builder turned this up. I'm surprised it hasn't shown up sooner, considering the fluff of it seems pretty legitimate.

Is this a diamond in the rough? Crazy enough to work?

I think they have merit, but you will want to bid for initiative so you can use the ORS to block Academy TIEs when you face them. I'd drop the APLs from list 1 and the title from list 2 to make that bid.

2x ORS with 2x Gold Squadron or Rebel Operatives is a list that's been floating around for a while. It can work, if you're patient and good at blocking, but personally it's not a favorite of mine.

Yeah, I was hoping more guns and more targets would increase the viability of the build. It might also hold up better against Phantoms by spreading arcs and focus firing.

I've been working on a build like this lately, except I'd like to fit Tactician and Gunner on the ORS to potentially stress two targets per turn.

I like the firt list better, simply because pairing an ORS with another ship with an ion shot is so much fun. As for the second list, I don't love the Falcon Title on an ORS. Not that it isn't a great expenditure of points, but unlike the named YT-1300 (especially gunner/luke) an ORS needs it action to help it hit. When I run ORS they almost always focus or TL to help boost their weaker firepower, they just don't get the chance to evade.

I would like to point out that when I play a named YT-1300 (usually Han with a gunner) they evade every turn. But it is about protecting your investment in points.
