I can't really blame anyone, we all want to play with our new toys. =)

That being said, I'm not running any phantom or chewy lists. I imagine I'll be playing against a few though..

My last store tournament I flew against a Whisper + Boba list with my bomber squad (3xTIE/Sa + 2x Academies) and just barely lost to a superior player (it was my first time flying against the Phantom), while I annihilated the Chewie squad flown by an inferior player.

So, I'm not going to say that these lists are unbeatable at all. While considered good ships, the TIE Bomber is not exactly the most-valued starship in the galaxy. So, I also think this is a function of new-toy hype, just like you said.
