A 4-turn would be a pretty big jump but a 4-bank is one of the things I was kind of hoping to see as the Defenders "unseen" maneuver. It's fast and a bit twisty but somewhat logical on a ship that could push forward 5. While the "white" K-turn may not have been seen before, and may be helpful, I know I didn't consider it a "new" maneuver a the 4K is already everywhere.
Why aren't there any 4 speed turns?
Having mapped all of the templates in a computer program and extrapolated the next few iterations of the turns and banks you can effectively get a 6 turn when de-cloaking with Echo by combining the bank 2 de-cloak and the bank 3 manoeuvre. I do enjoy flying Echo
In reply to WonderWAAGHs question regarding the OPs reaction to his reply I think you will find that due to him asking a perfectly reasonable question, reinforce by the fact that Attack wing has 4 turn manoeuvres, your reply was somewhat implying that it was a very stupid question worded in a fashion that could be taken as quite condescendingly.
sometimes your comments are a little 'blunt' which I don't mind most of the time however others it would seem do not appreciate your distinct writing style.
I must confess that I know very little of Attack Wing, except for the grumbling I hear about how imbalanced it is from local players. That and something about black dice with double crits.
Thanks for your input.

I didn't see anything wrong with it. Sarcastic? Yes. Maybe some don't appreciate sarcasm I guess.I need you guys to lend me some perspective here. Was there a problem with my first post? Somebody is having conniption fits and sending me hate mail over it.
Or they are paid mercenaries from the palps himself to hate mail you forever.
Sarcasm and humor doesn't always translate over typed text. Especially with people you don't know.
Besides, some people don't really like being "cheek"ed.

Also especially, when they're actively trying to learn something new in a new environment, it gives off this brush-off type of attitude. Its negative feedback in terms of learning something.
Before anyone mentions it, hardly ever are you going to find a newcomer that has had the time to trawl the mound and mounds of previous posts there are, or use the search function (which is also really really hidden/out of the way on this website.)

I'd like to also repeat that some people don't really like being "cheek"ed.
Edited by Blail BlergI don't have the templates in front of me but I bet the straight line path of the 3 turns is closer to the 4 or 5 straight. (Obviously the longest maneuvers in the game)
This guy has it, the radial dimension to the external edge of the 3 bank is 150mm~, on the 3 turn is 156mm~ and the longitudinal dimension on the 4 straight is 160mm.
the 2 & 1 banks and Turns are even more similar to their respective Bank/Turn
Thanks, I was at work and didn't have those numbers. A 4 speed turn would probably end up with a higher distance traveled then a 5 straight.

The external radial dimension of a 4 turn is 198mm~ while the 5 straight is 200mm ![]()
I think that the maneuver templates have had a lot more thought put into them than any of us ever suspected

True but he was wondering why he recieved hate mail over it. Did his sarcasm or cheekiness really warrant that? I don't think so. Just fly casual, ignore it if you don't like it, but don't take offense especially when nothing was said to take offense to. Just my opinion. All he was really stating was the reason there is no 4turn is the same reason those other manuevers are not in the game...just because.
Currently is there anything in the game that lets a ship barrel roll or boost before moving?
So all the pieces can can be stored in clear top container of my Plano Molding 5231.
Else these forums would hear the wrath of my complaining about the size of maneuver templates.

Yeah. Hate mail is a little extreme.

Yes adv sensors lets you perform an action before revealing your dial but currently only the bwing, Ewing, phantom and shuttle can use it.
Another question is.. why 3x3 for casual games/non-tournament prep?
The rulebook does say that one is free to experiment with different sizes.
How much balancing is actually due to the map size? (I would say a fair bit. ex. ST title shuttle, rule of 13).
I now understand that asteroids are required for this game because they act as a balancing object for many ships vs fewer ships based on ship cost points. Really, as a game design it seems to be simply to generate some variable terrain that actually makes maneuvering more worth while.
I taught the game to some new players this weekend and playing with no asteroids was almost like.... Okay. Forward. Where else?

Advanced sensors.

Lando, for higher PS ships. Also one of the rare circumstances where Damaged Cockpit might be useful.

The Moldy Crow Title get better the more turn you get before the first engagment, admitadly its somewhat diminishing returns but Kyle Katarn with Moldy Crow and 10+ Focus counters is quite a lot of value

Maybe it was that nonsense about the double helix maneuver... I have three and figured you must have gotten a bad starter set. It is, after all, the special move of all human pilots.
It's also the special move of all major news teams.
