Fragile Miniatures

......how do you dig out the little broken off m-end pegs smashed in the collar of a ship peg f-end?...

A couple ways.

You could drill a small hole in it and use the bit to pull it out.

You could heat up a needle and push that into it, when it cools you could use it pull it out.

I don't think glue would work, to likely to glue the pin to the other end, but then again depending on how you store them that might not be to big of an issue.

I have a 50+ ship collection and have had very few problems. One was my own fault as I didn't realize the trajectory my foot would take when moving from a crossed leg position to putting it on the floor, or my proximity to the coffee table a TIE swarm was resting on. Easy fix with super glue.

That said, I was just telling someone how impressed I was with the quality control of the product line as I was opening a K-wing... The bottom peg had it's bottom where it locks into the base sheared off. Never seen anything like it. Then, I borrowed a base and peg arrangement from another ship so I could see how the K-wing moved about with other ships and POP the little plastic piece the post fits into came off the ship. 2 flaws in one package, and I'd had such a good run.

I'm on the fence over whether I'd rather try the part replacement service, or attempt to fix both issues myself. The little plastic collar that the post fits in disappeared from where I left it the night it happened (rather suspect because I put the collar, post and base within the confines of a roll of masking tape, but yeah...) so I figure taking a post to a hobby shop and looking over their selection of styrene tubing may yield usable results (any one ever try this?), but I'm unsure how I'll approach the sheared off peg issue... any ideas?

If a DIY fix seems reasonable I'd rather have my K-wing back in service in a day or two rather than wait for FFG.

Only X-wing and B-wing guns for me here.

In some time you'll still want to take a brushie acrylics, a knife, plasticard and magnets to make them better.

*looking at you, E-wing*

so no worries.

jsut don't make new guns for X-wings from needles.

they will get their attack value to epic levels. against fingers.

I had a mishap where a child bent one x-wing laser so badly that it pointed backwards. I was able to bend it back straight again without breaking or leaving any visible damage.

That said, both of my TIE advanced lost a wing without any notable impact. it was easily glued back on, and this was a wave 1 product, so quality has probably improved since then.

I have a Z-95 where the cannon fell off, both my K-wings have bent or broken turret barrels on the nose (they are too big for my current foam) and a VSD is about to lose an antenna.

Proper storage is the key to keeping ships from getting tangled with each other (X-wings especially).

Plano boxes are your best bet.

After 11 months of play I finally broke one last night. I ham handed a K-wing and broke the socket off the bottom of the ship. Poster tack and super glue to fix it. It will rejoin the fleet later on today.

After being dropped, kicked, swatted and launched I finally managed to damage one. As detailed as they are they are not fragile.

The Deci turret guns and K-wing nose guns are pretty much garbage when it comes to durability. Also never leave your Z-95s/Xs out in the hot sun in their blisters with rubber bands holding them in (it's bad).

That said, most ships can take a pretty good beating without breaking, and if you need X-wing guns, well voila:

what is this? It's beautiful

They're turned brass gun barrels for tanks and such made by/for Combat Wombat miniatures.

He pretty much just operates out of his Facebook page these days.

I'm very OCD about being careful with my models, I transport all my models in foam to and from my place of gaming. As of January I would have been playing X-Wing for two years and in that time I've had one ship break, and that was a B-Wing laser canon due to me knocking it off the table by accident, in the end I just purchased a new one and another player purchased a cheap B-Wing off me due to it missing a canon.

I've got an x-wing with a bendy barrel from the starter it came that way so I will look into those thanks.

Given their price durability is very high.

must be Italian!! lol
