So my core set just arrived and I am suprised at how fragile the plastic looks, plastic looks and feels pretty hard and not very bendable, bumping is inevitable when playing and I am not sure that it doesn't break (like the x-wing cannons). Any tips? How durable are the ships?

They hold up well. I received one poorly glued Interceptor among my 60 ships. I'm a little OCD about my X-wing guns not being straight, so I bend them. I just bend VERY slow. I've had not issues. Bumping them in game is no problem.
They're pretty durable all in all. I've had 1 broken gun in a year+ of playing, transporting, ect...
Plus even if they do break, a little superglue or plastic model glue and the ship is good as new again.
I've hit them off the table into the floor. Didn't break.
If they do crazy glue works fine.
Had the wing fall off my advanced. Can't even notice it now
Broke a wing of an advanced it glued right back on you'd never tell, small dobs of superglue work wonders.
I had an interceptor get crushed by a stray foot, and that's why I don't play on the floor anymore.
Other than that, be more concerned about the posts used to hold the ships up breaking. I'm running through mine at an alarming rate.
Thank you!
one of my x wings had a crooked engine. I purposely broke it off and reglued it.
Only one tie fighter has broken so far. My mistake, i let my 2 year old boy play with them briefly while we were watching star wars. I know everyone thinks I'm crazy, but I have to start teaching him early.. haha. Quick fix with super glue. no issues.
I'm actually super pleased with how durable the ships are. Especially when compared to say.. idk 40k.. you don't know pain until you build a 2000 point army spending 100's of hours assembling and painting only to see it crushed and broken apart after moving repeatidly. Needless to say I have replaced my 40k addiction with .. you guessed it! X-Wing!
All of my minis swim around in a plastic tackle box, I just cut down the plastic tray they ship in to fit each box but they still float around and nothing has broken yet.
I started this game shortly after it first released and none of my minis have broken, they hold up well (and I definitely do my fair share of dropping them or knocking them over lol).
I find the stupid pegs are more fragile then the ships themselves. I really wish I could buy a bag of these from FFG, hint, hint, hint...
I have dropped several ships on the concrete floor of the game store and they survived (maybe a B-Wing gun to re-glue) but those pegs are a pain. I have one snap off inside of an X-Wing, that was a pain to get out!
Sadly the only time I've had a ship break was in the package already.
I accidentally squished one of my B-wings in my plano box and broke off the cannons on the sides, but that's my own fault. Couldn't find them to fix em, either. I broke the wing off of a bomber while painting but that was easily glued back on and isn't even noticeable. I think I did the same to a TIE fighter, but can't remember for sure...
The biggest issue with durability is the plastic pegs and the thing they get inserted into on the ships. Those crack frequently, but super glue fixes them right up.
X-wing guns are shockingly sturdy. I work at a school and I brought some of my stuff in a few times for some of the more responsible kids to play with (supervised by me of course). One time a 5th grader had a little trouble putting the X-wing on its stand and managed to bend one of the laser cannons way back, as in literally pointing behind the ship, but it didn't snap off. I was able to bend it carefully back into position and you can barely tell it was ever mangled in the first place
the only ships I have ever had trouble with are TIE advanced, I had one where a wing fell off shortly after opening the package and another just last week where I accidentally dropped it on a concrete floor and the wing came off, but they are very easy to glue back on.
Edited by EffenhoogI've had issues with my B-wings, mostly due to extreme carelessness by the user (me). Other than that they hold together pretty well. Not in the Porkins sense of holding things together either, they literally hold together well.
I busted the laser off an X-Wing, but I was stripping the paint with a toothbrush, not handling it normally. I've since stripped other ones without problems, being extra careful around the weapons.
zero broken for models, I have had minor issues with pegs and stuff, but that comes with playing 5 to 10 games a week
I've had an X-wing hit the ground in my friends basement and it didn't even get a scratch. I would say they are quite durable at least more durable then the other miniatures I own.
The miniatures are quite durable. I was worried about the X-Wing cannons since I first saw them, too, but there have been 0 breakages out of the 5 I own. In fact the only thing that's broken so far was one of my CR90 turrets. That was my fault, though...
I do not have any problem with miniatures themselves, but with pegs and junctions.
the problem with pegs is usually solved by the custom service... the send me 4 new pegs.
but I still have a problem with the plastic graft og the miniatures: that one of the falcon is broken (it was already damaged when I opened the miniature) and one of an Y-Wing came off from the miniature (but I glued it into the miniature).
We've got a guy in our group that hurls, yes hurls his ships into a large carry bag to cart them around. It makes me cringe every time I see it, but surprisingly, they seem to be holding up. I have no idea how. This is extreme abuse.
I've played over a year now, had the entire collection with me to several Regional events and many tournaments/game nights this year - as well as last year.
I've had one minor damage so far and that was an X-Wing gun being bent.
Which was my own **** fault because I yanked it out of the bag instead of being careful. ![]()
I wouldn't call them very fragile, but do handle them with care.
I have one broken laser cannon on B-wing, but that is my own fault as carrying box lid crunched it. A few bent lasers on X-wings too, but nothing major.
But those pegs are quite a problem. If the miniature is not exactly lined up, every newb and unwarned player in our group twists it just a bit and the effect is same as you twist the stuck axe in the firewood; it cracks open eventually.
I have been forced to gluing those and replacing the with magnets.
I dress my cat up like Darth Vader and let him swat X-wings around the kitchen floor... They hold up fine.. he is a trained stunt cat so don't try this yourself...
......how do you dig out the little broken off m-end pegs smashed in the collar of a ship peg f-end?...
