Which to buy--AOR Core or sale-priced beta?

By Spivy, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

I've been going back and forth about spending the full amount of money for the AOR Core Rulebook, or getting the AOR Beta for about $15. For those of you who have seen both, any suggestions saying which is the better choice? Please bear in mind that my main concern is whether it's worth spending around $45 on the core book when much of it is copied and pasted from the EotE Core Rulebook that I already own. I'm not sure what all the AOR beta book does and doesn't include versus the AOR core book.

Go for the core rulebook as unlike the Beta you won't need the errata they produced after the Beta was released as they fine tuned the system.

The Beta is nice has an adventure that isn't repeated but you're only want to play the game then buy the core rules at least then if you're stumped for ideas you can come back here and find quite a few willing to help you there!

If you're mainly going for a supplement for an Edge game, then the Beta is a good deal. Look for the most recent errata for changes (mainly Gunner and Commando) and just ask here for other differences. Also, somebody put up current PDFs of the talent trees. These incorporate the errata.

Honestly if you're looking to save money you can just use the talent trees for AoR that have been posted here on the forums and frankly you don't need the core book or the beta. The errata has the new talents on it and you can just DL that. Not having the mechanics for Duty is not that big a deal imo. Having said all that new core book is nice. I enjoy the art and it seems like it's laid out better than EoE.

There are a few Talents in AoR (including the Beta) that were not detailed in the Errata. There are also some useful adversaries and vehicles/starships. The Beta is also the only place with the accurate stats for the Sentinel. :P

I honestly haven't looked at my copy of the new core book that closely, what talents are new?

If you want to play AoR proper, or are planning to mine stats and fluff and kit, get the core.

If you want to help support the game line so FFG will continue to produce quality products that we love, buy the Core Book.

Wizards of the Coast? Yeah, I'll find "cheaper" ways to get a product of theirs that I want. But this line of FFG games? I want them to have my money.

I agree. I support buying quality products that don't make me feel ripped off. One reason I'm rapidly cooling on videogames.
