List to Critique

By Grapthar91, in X-Wing

Hello guys and gals. So I will be attending a tournament in the near future and I came up with a few list variants. The idea behind these three lists is to put as many crits on my opponent as possible. Please be brutally honest about what you think about these lists. I would like to know any perceived weaknesses and which, if any, list you like the best.

LIST 1 100 points

Corran Horn with R2 Astromech

Ten Numb

Etahn A'baht with Veteran Insincts

So Etahn is the key to this list as Corran gets two attacks, and thus two chances to get crits, every other turn and one crit Etahn gives Ten can't be cancelled.

LIST 2 100 points

Corran Horn with R2 Astromech

Luke Skywalker with Marksmanship

Etahn A'baht with Veteran Instincts

Again Etahn is handing out the crits while Luke with Marksmanship and Corran with two attacks are stacking up the crits.

LIST 3 100 points

Luke Skywalker with R2 Astromech and Marksmanship

Ten Numb with Fire Control System and Adrenaline Rush

Etahn A'baht with R2 Astromech and Veteran Instincts

So with this list I had an extra 3 points left over and thus ended up putting FCS and Adrenaline Rush on Ten Numb. If you guys know of a better set up for three points to go with my crit theme, I'm all ears.

So there you have it. I'm completely open to any criticism so fire away and thanks in advance.

How are you going to beat the TIE Phantom? None of your ships have turrets. Also, they lack ion to try to slow down the Phantom.

I might move the VI from Etahn to Ten Numb in list one. That would give you a phantom counter.

If you really want to bang-for-your-buck out the crit machine that is Etahn I think a 3 ship list is not Ideal.

You could try this list which has done surprisingly well for me, I made it for fun but it's actually been quite brutal in the few games I have played it:

EZZZZZ

Etahn + Adv Sen (or could be PTL, marksmanship, any 3 points worth of upgrades)

Tala Squadron Pilot x 5

Went up against a tie swarm and took out 3 ships before they could return fire thanks to a couple direct hit crits.

In terms of your lists they do look solid but I personally have always been a little suspicious of Rebel lists that only have 15-18 total hit points, even factoring in shields, a few bad defence rolls and your really behind the 8 ball.

Ten Numb with no upgrades is one of the worst possible choices in a Rebel list: his ability only works if you roll a crit and you would otherwise miss, and it costs you a lot of points. Of the three, then, I prefer List 2, except that Marksmanship would be a much better choice for Corran than for Luke (because Corran can attack multiple times per round, it's much more likely to earn its points back).

I don't see a use for marksmanship on Luke, R2 would be better then he can use Focus for attack.

Predator on something, particularly Ten in list 3. With Ten you need to maximize hits and guarantee crits which Etahn is providing. Honestly I'd probably drop Luke altogether and go with Biggs, maximizes defense of the 2 important guys and gives you some extra points to work with.

I can see it. Usually, you are better to take a focus action over marksmanship because the token carry over for defense but, since Luke ability is like a mini focus for defense, he usually doesn't need to spend a focus token when defending, so marksmanship allow him to do more crit compared to a standard focus.

It's a good combo that gives some more firepower to a very good closer, when also paired with R2-D2.

Focus action doesn't cost three points though.

Sure, but if you are only taking 3 ship, might as well get as much offense possibilty as you can. I'm not saying it's the most optimal way to spend the 3 points, I just don't dismiss it as a bad idea without its use. A crit can really change the momentum in a game.

Every upgrade is in competition with every other upgrade. That three points could be Hull Upgrade, Stealth Device, Predator, Outmaneuver, or multiple 1 and 2 point upgrades. Marksmanship gives you some critting power, but if you've already got Etahn is it worth 3 points?

Ok after hearing everyones feedback, I've come up with the following list

Etahn A'baht with Predator

Biggs with R5 Astromech

Tala Squadron Pilot x3

100 points

Gives me five ships to gets crits with Etahn's ability and Biggs gives me some protection. What do you guys think?
