I've used Echo WITHOUT veteran instinct, for 42 points total...

With Echo I've played a mini-swarm list:

1x Academy pilot

2x Obsidian sq. pilot

1x Howlrunner with "swarm tactics"

Echo was simply amazing! In the first part following a B-Wing (blue sq. pilot) and then flying away to destroy an Y-Wing (gold sq. pilot with ion turret who has its last 2 hull points).

I decided to stay away from the millennium falcon (chewbacca) and this was the right strategy, using the mini tie-fighter swarm to catch him.

I'm very impressed by the options it gives to us !!

Ok, the list I was facing didn't have high PS pilot, but a falcon and a ion turret are valid options to counter a phantom, aren't them ??

Someone else having good games with echo ???

The first time I played echo I had trouble getter her where I wanted her. The decloak moved her around so much it was all I could do to keep her off rocks and pointed in the right direction.

Whisper is still slippery, but probably a better introduction to the phantom, just to get used to decloaking

All the TIE fighters were destroyed before any of my opponent's ships. I still won

Just about every game I've seen echo in had won.

She has lost a few games but she wins way more than she loses

Upgrades like outmaneuver and predator can be tempting, but leaves her open to a lot more attacks before she can recloak.

I can't run her any other way.

I'm tempted to try outmaneuver, but the PS6 is just a bit painful for Echo. Unless I use the rest of my ships to whittle down the PS6+ ships and let Echo deal with the end game cleanup. Very tempting!

2nd game I used echo she was the focus of the list I messed up the first decloak and lost two shields but reduced Biggs to one hull point just from her attacks, she didn't Finnish bugs but did kill wedge and blount in the next two turns soundly winning me the game.

Outmanouver really hurt them in defence and fire control meant I never had less than four hits, I also took gunner but this ended up five wasted points I never missed.

I noticed that Echo's best friend is asteroids, and Whisper's worst enemy is asteroids. Normal Phantoms have lots of decloak options blocked, while Echo can just zip round them safely. It makes a pretty big difference.

I think that the Phantom needs a good upgrades, so it takes a good amount of points, so it's a good idea to put a small swarm with it, grettings.

I did a battle report on youtube with the X-wing AI app, playing a solo game. I used Echo with outmaneuver, fire control systems, advanced cloaking device, and navigator. The latter came in extra handy, but I honestly forgot to ever apply outmaneuver.

I would love to explore more EPTs but since the TIE Phantom is the jungle cat in every hunter's crosshairs right now, VI might be the only option. Later, when things have settled, Outmaneuver makes a great selection.

(i give full credit to Mark Douglas of our local playgroup in Vancouver BC for creating this list and teaching me how to fly it properly)

you played your list right by staying away from the falcon with your phantom and using your ties to deal the damage

echo does a dance of evading firing arcs so well that he's usually better off just as a flanker to kill everything else without a 360 firing arc and if you're flying him right he should last you to late game where he becomes a powerhouse and will win the games for you.. provided that you're dice don't flop and you lose your support before killing off the key opposition such as the Falcons

depending on your opponent though, you may be forced to exchange fire with the falcon if your opponent is really pushing hard enough to gun down your phantom.. just make sure you stay out of range one and keep that focus for the defense.. you're really going to need it

but the good news about this choice your opponent makes is that by chasing down echo, your ties are free to massively deal damage to the falcon and will likely destroy it outright in an approximate 3 rounds of fire if left unchecked

I think I'm going to use your build, VI, ACD, and RC. RS was cool but I never used both tokens in the 2nd game. That's how I always feel when I had RC on the Firespray too.

I had my first chance to try out the wave 4 Imperials yesterday. I ran Echo with VI, advanced cloak, sensor jammer, along with two PS1 defenders. I faced off against 2 PS4 bwings and tooled up Wedge.

Echo and the Phantom itself takes a bit to get used to. Both defenders gt splashed leaving Echo alone. Echo proceeded to take out both bwings and nearly had Wedge also before it was over. Not bad considering the trouble I was having for my first phantom run.
