YOU'RE AN OFF-TOPIC FOOL!
Meh it is something to do with one of the fighting games of ufs so who cares and you dont have to call me a fool thats a bit unfair and i have seen other things about street fighter games on the general discusion but does it really matter

He was being facetious, but this could just as easily go in the off-topic section.
Regardless...
I couldn't give a crab about the PSP. It has good games n' all, but you're not allowed to buy it unless you have a DS first
=D
The SoulCalibur game DOES look fun, it's just too bad Soul Calibur is a retarded engine that NEEDS to be fixed but likely never will be =/

What's that, I couldn't hear you over Soul Calibur 2 being the best in the series hands down.
Or at least the one I had most fun with. I get the two confused sometimes.
Meh i'll pass. Speaking from past experiences in the realm of fighters on hand helds if its not a japanese import it wont handle well. And while this may be an expection I'm more looking foward to Bleach Heat the Soul 6 and Kamen rider Climax Heroes.

I think most would agree with you that SC2 was the best in the series
I just hate how flawed the engine is. It must be flawed; the tiers in Soul Calibur make such insignificant changes, it seems to me like they just up the graphics.
If they'd actually listen to their players and start releasing patches and updates that make consistantly crappy characters better (much like how related game Tekken has had almost every one of their characters be amazing at least once in their career), then maybe. But I'm really getting tired of a new SC game being released only for one of the Sisters, X, or Taki to be on top. Been there, done that, F' that.

Um even if its a japanese import it can be garbage.
I had the first rev of Tekken Tag Tournament on JPN GBA.
Game was such garbage...terrible...terrible....
actually, i mean the game was amazingly awesomesause. and i probably still have it around someone if anyone is interested in purchasing it...or trading for some UFS cards
Pssht, dude, I have Tekken Advance
yeah...Tekken Advance...
...yeah...
i'm talking pure ports and i should have been a bit more specific on the console i ment for the psp. the ds has its fair share of good and poor fighters. Hajime No Ippo for both GBA and DS are amazing then you have tekken.
how is any of the fighting mechanics in SC flawed!?
and if you wanted to upgrade the 'crappy' characters, then spend time and actually play as them to distinguish how they can be utilized and then proclaimed as fun and/or broken instead of crappy.
SC4 is probably the best one for the standard gameplay and the equivalence to all characters' being different and having their own strengths/weakness (much like all fighting games 'cept SSBB) but SC2 was certainly the most fun of the series. this one coming out for the psp I will most likely get just so I can practice up even more with Astaroth and/or Taki on the go instead of having to wait till I'm back at home to sit on my butt when I can just play it whereever on my butt.

SCPSP is a reworked and rebalanced version of SC4. What you will have in the palm of your hands will not be SC4. It'll be a better balanced version.

but still none-the-less is still sc4... which I'm content with being a crazed fighting game fan. and astaroth of course!!!

SSBrawl IS balanced when you take MetaKnight and Snake out of the picture. With those two gone, it could go anywhere between the top guys (Game and Watch, Dedede, Marth, Wario, DK, Lucario, Falco, etc).
SC has a crappy engine for a few reason
-Jump = non existent. After watching extremely high calibur tourney videos, jumping appears to only be used to hop over low attacks. That's retarded, jumping should have more use than that. I sincerely doubt Xianghua's tiny short sword would weigh her down THAT much.
-As I mentioned, the tiers almost never change. The Sisters, Xianghua, and Taki are almost always at the top with such characters as Cervantes, Ivy, Yoshimitsu, and Mitsurugi not too far behind. This newest game gave birth to Hilde and Algol, who did nothing but piss off even more people. In Tekken, every character has had a rise and a fall. Main character Jin Kazama has gone from amazing to OMFG broken ban himplz to eww to eww gag eww he sux to OMG HE'S USABLE! We've had Soul Edge go through its many incarnations, and Soulcalibur I-IV. Throughout those games, the tiers barely change to make a good enough difference.
-Don't say "use crappy characters", because tiers are released for a reason. I'm a big Guile fan, and I ALWAYS use Flash Kick as an anti-air (which I mention because Flash Kick in SF4 is absolute garbage compared to what it used to be), but there's no denying while Guile is in the ranks of Vega. His combos are limited as Hell, both Super and Ultra eat a D, he's just...he isn't really Guile. In Soul Calibur, my character has been, and always will be Seong MiNa. I simply like playing with her more than Kilik. But in SC4, most people agree she is the worst character (well, besides Yoda of course), and after witnessing her in SC4, there is NO way in making Seong MiNa good. She is THE keepaway character, and I don't mean keepaway like SF4 Dhalsim who uses patience to punish the opponent, I mean Seong MiNa does nothing but run the entire game. Your opponent gets in close to you, it's over.
I like playing Soul Calibur, and I'll admit, 4 has made some pretty significant changes for a lot of characters. However, such characters as Talim, Zasalamel, and Rock have been CRYING for changes, and they haven't, and likely will never get them, which is why those three have always been garbage. In Soul Calibur, there's no Shotoclone nonsense; EVERY character stands apart (yes, even Raph-Amy, Asta-Rock, Sisters, etc), and as such, it's easy finding which chars are good and which aren't.
Bah.
It has my Tira so I know that I will be picking it up when it comes out x3
actually the interviews stated that this would be a toned down version of sc 4 designed for beginners in mind.
I was meerly using SSBB as an example between thorough fighting games compared to 'bland' button mashing fighting games.
jumping is existant in SC, true they are the purpose of hopping the low zone attacks, but there are key characters that have their own 'jump' specials such as Taki, Astaroth, Yoshimitsu, Yoda, Algol, The Apprentice, Cervantes, Rock (NOT SIMILAR PAGE AS ASTAROTH!!! SHORTER REACH), Lizardman, Sophitia, Cassandra, Talim and even Kilik and Seung Mina have ways to avoid the low/mid and/or high attacks too. so with over half of the list right there, yes; jumping is existant you just need to excel the use of it.
tiers are for the stupids honestly, you have a favorite character play as them constantly as I have done with Astaroth and Taki. Taki being tier 2 and Astaroth being bottom tier. Tiers to me are done based on how often that character is played and how effective they can be over and over. Taki true, but I play her to joke around since SC2 (ninjas rule) but my true shine is with Astaroth (ALL HAIL KULUTES) the bottom character that no one would expect much from, and yet I excel in him the best and overall. the birth of Algol, Hilde, The Apprentice, Yoda and/or Vador did not make more upset players, it brought new flavor... A duel-wielding character to the weapon fighting franchise=cool! and Algol is practically the new-er Necrid... yes he is, pay close attention to the attacks, they are indeed similar to others from other characters and yet he is his own character (pew pew) The Apprentice and Yoda/Vador are pretty lame but then again an interesting twist at the sametime.
I never brought in SF to the topic and don't care to mix a standard martial arts fighting style game to a weapon arena-style game. Talim and Rock have had huge changes in continuation of the games. Talim from 2 to 3 you couldn't loop the flippy-kick-flippy-kick attack... it only went up to twice. Rock from 3 to 4 got his own move list and has his own reach instead of being an Astaroth clone. don't insult Astaroth like that. Yes it is easy finding easy to 'crap' characters apart, but that's the fun in a fighting game, to excel and make sure there is no gap in that category and not in only one character but all characters too. True there are potential clones but in 4 there are none in the main listing aside from Sophitia and Cassandra... just basic differences (cassy being stronger, sophy being faster) even Amy and Raph are different being nowhere called clones.
"bah"
the general lack of a map based story mode like tales of souls and swords{SC3} makes SC4 get boring very fast, I think I spend more time making Street Fighter/Samurai Shodown/KOF characters and custom characters (and even then SC3 has more and better gear for customs) then I actually do playing any of the single or multi player modes (only time is if I need to get gold to buy equipment)
yeah I agree on that part, but I just have fun playing the game. but the quickest way to get gold is playing online or doing the tower, ascending or descending. and speaking of samurai showdown, samurai showdown 7 (sen) is going to be a 3DRealm environment fighting game too!!! with a standard cast of characters unlike number 6 with too many characters.

BTW: Sen looks like crap, and they genericized a whole lot of characters. But especially Galford. He barely looks like himself now.

Just thought I'd point out, Astaroth has gotten better every game and is considered by most to be either high tier, or like, right below it. Astaroth is amazing in SC4, I have no idea who you've been hearin is knockin him =/
Talim and Rock still suck, though =P
Astaroth sucked in Soul Edge.
True story.
I've never played Soul Edge and I'm not meaning to spur out more arguements.
I'll agree that Galford does look different, like he became thinner when he hit 3D or something... but either way I prefer the 3DRealm fighting games compared to the 2D fighting games unless it's uber badass such as KoF12 and SF4.
Is the newest SS out? Also, does anyone know how it even plays as a fighter? It appears that the late 08-09 season is where fighting games up their ante. SF4, SC4, KOF XII, Tekken 6 BR, etc, all seem to have gotten better. Samurai Showdown?
