Hilariously bad battle

By Millennium Falsehood, in X-Wing

My gosh, this was so bad, and I still had fun playing it. I decided to take a squad I knew was good (Three Amigos) and my friend took a totally random, thrown-together squad.

And he kicked the living crap out of me.

My squad was as follows:

Wedge Antilles + R2 Astromech + Push the Limit + Flechette Torpedoes

Luke Skywalker + R2-D2 + Draw Their Fire

Biggs Darklighter + R2-F2 + Stealth Device

His was the following:

Ibtisam + Autoblaster + Sensor Jammer + Squad Leader + Flechette Torpedo + Stealth Device

Grey Squadron + R2-D2

Rebel Operative + Ion Cannon Turret + Intelligence Agent + Stealth Device+Moldy Crow

96 points

He had his ships spread out pretty far, with Ibti on the right, Rebel Operative in the center, and the Y-wing on the far left. I went after Ibtisam first, because I figured Rebel Operative and the Y-wing were the least threatening and I wanted to make the nearly-fully loaded B-wing pop. And you'd figure three X-wings flying in tight formation with Biggs being very defensive would make that easy, right? Well, the first attack my dice were so cold that after every attack I only managed to drain his shields. And to top it off, he got the operative in real close and let loose with his ion cannon, knocking Biggs out cold and breaking up my formation nicely. Not to mention I forgot about his autoblaster. I spent the rest of the game trying to get them back in formation, but it was a slaughter. I never got any more hits on the B-wing after that because he played controller with the HWK on Wedge and Luke and finished them off with the Y-wing.

I really need to fly against Rebels more often. I was NOT prepared to fly against ships that are so survivable.

That makes me think of last night, I was showing someone how to play. Two games, one with quick rules, one with Luke v. 2 named TIEs. In both games I never scratched his shields, and he rolled at least one critical hit for every attack roll in both games. If I somehow managed to roll two hits, he rolled 2 evades. And several times I completely wiffed a defense roll, even at range 3. But hey, now he's totally hooked on the game! So, I'll still call that a win.

Trinity may have been good once... in Wave I. It's been outclassed for a while now. As you discovered, a single Ion shot is sufficient to neuter a 3- ship list.

Cool stuff guys.

I have six glorious-wonderful-all mighty, and beloved Y-WINGS in my collection for a reason...

^_^
